the days spent away from home were beginning to be unbearable to her. each passing day her belly began to swell up. "damn your getting fatter by the hour" aulbrey thought to herself.

the winters cold wind began to blow as she made her way home. thoughts of spending time with her true love was all that kept her going. deep beyond horizon she began to see familiar land. "only two days travel more" she thought to herself as she struggled to stay awake.


the pains in her belly grew stronger and she was barely able to walk anymore. she wasnt one who was used to pain and soon passed out on the roadside.


days later aulbrey opened her eyes in a strange place. slowly she sat up, looking around the room she found herself in. moments later she heard a knock followed by a soft voice. "dont be frightened im here to help" the womans voice spoke. aulbrey reached for her belly it was flat again. "what kind of witchcraft do you do here" aulbrey spoke harsly. shocked by the mention of witchcraft the woman began to explain to aulbrey what had happened.


"you see i was on my way to the market when i saw a body in the road. the weather was cold and i could not bare to leave anyone in such a situation. you were unconscious, as i carried you into the wagon i relized that you were in need of special care so i brought you here to the monastary"


"yea ok whatever you say" aulbrey said as if not hearing a word she spoke "so where is the nearest bar" aulbrey shouted as if the woman was deaf. shocked at aulbreys response the woman simply said "you seek the bar but do you not wish to hear how your child is doing?"

"no all i want is the to know....." aulbrey stopped and looked at the woman "My What???" aulbrey just stood there in shock.

aulbrey stood in shock as the words began to sink into her mind. "a...a child.....how can that be?" she slowly muttered. "well you see when two people really...." the woman began to explain when aulbrey cut her off "i know how but what i meant was....." aulbrey was at a loss for words.

the woman smiled softly "would you like me to bring your..um....child to you?" aulbrey nodded and sat down and desperately looked around for anything that she could drink. it seemed as if the woman was purposely taking her time. eventually the woman returned holding the child wrapped in a blanket.


aulbrey stood up slowly with her arms reaching out. the woman put the child into her arms and whispered to her "you can stay here for as long as your need." aulbrey looked down and there laying in her arms. the features were that of a elven child the head however was bared a strong resemblance to that of white lamp. aulbreys eyes widened " No it cant be.....it cant....can it??" aulbrey muttered to herself. laying the half elf half lamp child down on the bed beside her she began to pace back and forth. "bob must never find out" she thought to herself


finally looking down to the child a tear began to form in her eye "i shall call you.... lampette" she spoke quietly as she rested her head next to the child.
