It was raining,
The symphony of the falling water seem to put the very land in a meditative and contemplative state. The winter shower cut the visibility down and made the Warrior Temple stand out among the swaying trees of the Skara Minor forest.
Like a bastion it stood as the elements did battle amongst themselves. Earth, air , fire and water all seemed to vie for some elusive prize. However the Temple stood, its very foundation engineered to withstand this and much more, each stone perfectly matched with the other , working with each other to make a solid structure to last lifetimes. Water dripped off it's stylized chiseled sides and ran down gutters, Its very presence unmoved by the occasional challenge of thunder.
Ramses, newly elected Regent and Pharaoh of the Hand of Ra looked out from his balcony and shared in this state of contemplation. He observed the elements and their eternal struggle and realized all it took was a sentient conscious and something like the Temple could be made out of chaos. He smiled and shook his head and the realization.
"Indeed." He said out loud but more to himself.
He was answered with low chirping comment by his falcon. Smiling he turned to the raptor.
"Well, that will stay between us Khonsu old boy." Ramses said with a low chuckle to the falcon. "But how and where do I start lad?"
More soft chirping.
"Well I'll have to start somewhere." With that said an idea came to him and he thanked the gods for the storm as inspiration. He walked over to his desk and picked-up a quill and a fresh sheet of papyrus and proceeded to write:
Dear fellow Loyalists,
It is with reverence for our institution that I write to you.
I have pondered for days since accepting the title of Regent on what would be next for the regency and the legacy it holds. we have accomplished much during our time here, yet I feel we could do more for the folk under our charge and for those looking for something new, something that is just not and form of government but a shared ideology.
With that I feel that our next action should be a new venue to hold the our weekly meetings. No man is an island as is no form of government, hence I feel that to moving the meeting site to a place on the mainland. It will not only be a symbol that the Regency is not an isolationist body but one that is eager to engage with its charges. A perception that I think many have. I know we have had issues with those who would disrupt our meetings, however I feel that now the risk is low and can be managed.
I feel that this move is a good step in the evolution and growth of the Regency.
Additionally, the other subjects to be handled on the next meeting will be :
A)Appointment of the Cabinet
B)Discussion of new Cabinet posts
C)Ideas for continued growth of infrastructure
Please write back with your questions, additional ideas or concerns so that way final say can be done at our next meeting.
Your humble servant in Virtue.
Ramses
With that he rose and called a scribe to make copies and have them delivered to all the Loyalists. That done he returned to the balcony and continued to watch the rain.
"So much more to do" He thought to himself, but for now he allowed himself a moment to enjoy the rain from the comfort of the temple. _________________ "Sometimes it's profound, sometimes... it's fritos" |

Upon receipt of the letter, Baron Thrax read it carefully. He paced the floor of his study for a good long while and then sat down to pen a reply:
"Your Majesty,
I was delighted to receive your letter and discover that already, in your brief tenure as Regent, you have embarked upon a noble quest. I, too, have been sojourning in search of an ideology, one that embraces no set of principles so tightly that one cannot obtain happiness, be they either light or darkness. There must be a happy medium. I would share my thoughts with you in a setting of your choosing and at your leisure.
As for a new location, may I suggest Sanctus Covenir castle which has amenities for every occasion and is quite open to the public. The top floor has plenty of tables and chairs for all. It could be arranged in any manner that would best facilitate things while maintaining a very royal atmosphere.
I look forward to discussing these matters with you face to face. I wish you and the Queen good health and the best of all good things.
Your Servant,
Thraxanduril
He affixed his official seal to the letter and rolled it up slowly. After placing it into a brass tube, he had Harbinger deliver it to the Regent. |
