Vaen stood atop Mount Kendall overlooking his hometown. After the recent victory in Minoc, he was named Lord of Minoc. "Fitting," he thought, "as now I can return this to its former glory..."

"Youuuu. You!" shouted a man from below. "Vaen... how could you? You fight for evil. You are our enemy, but you were born and raised here. How? How could you?"

Vaen smirked, looking down at the enemy. "We are not the enemy. They are. Or rather, were."

Puzzled, the man asked, "What do you mean?"

"They lined this mine with explosives, just in case they lost. Luckily, Lady Gwen informed me of such, and we were able to disarm almost all traps and remove them. Just think what would have happened if you or someone else was in here, who had nothing to do with the war. They didn't care. Can't say the same for the other guy who was there, though. He was set aflame. By the hands of the Northern Militia."

The man slowly looked down.

Vaen continued. "You see, my friend, we are not the enemy. We would never line what makes Minoc such a powerful frontier city in explosives. No no, that is the work of selfishness, and the mindset of, "Well, if we can't have it, no one can!""

Looking up, the man sighed. "So what will you have of us now?"

"Go on as you wish. Everyone should have received a letter with the new laws, though they aren't too different from before. Tax collectors will come by once a week."

"Taxes! Bah! They are higher than what we used to pay!"

"Would you rather pay higher taxes, or have your mines lined in explosives?"

The old man said nothing, yet a defeated look came over his face.

"Very well then. Be on your way. And if you need anything, find me."

The old man nodded to Vaen, seeming to somewhat accept the idea of this new rulership.

"Idiots..." Vaen said to himself, "why would you ever line a mine in explosives? You just made it easier to convince these people that you are the enemy."

Spawn stood at the bank in Minoc leaning against the cold stone walls using his leg to prop himself folding his arms against his chest. He watched from under the hood of his shroud at the soldiers of the Dark Order dismantling the barricade that the Northern Militia placed before the battle. Spawn moved his glance towards the bodies of the militia and the Sanctus army scattered all over the city streets.

Suddenly, a middle aged man walking down the street gave Spawn a cold stare. The man then began to walk in the direction towards the bank. Spawn slowly removed his shroud revealing the green wizard's hat he was famous for wearing and began to walk away from the bank.

"Spawn? It can't be...!!" The man said standing a few feet away from Spawn. "Why are you fighting with Tarothin? He's evil! I thought you were Sheriff of Britannia?!" he continued.

"The Regency has abandoned me... I serve them no more..." Spawn said glancing over his shoulder at the man. The man just stared at Spawn with a look of disbelief in his eyes.

"So you fight with those who are the enemy!?! Why!?!" asked the man in a demanding tone.

"Enemy? Who were the ones who barricaded you inside this city? Who were the ones who placed explosives into the mines?" Spawn said nodded towards the halfway dismantled barricade then in the direction of the mines. "I think you need to stop and reconsider who the enemy is my friend" said Spawn slowly beginning to walk down the street away from the man.

"So you killed the Northern Militia and the army of Sanctus who you used to serve!?!" shouted the man. Spawn stopped walking and slowly turned to face the man.

"Sanctus betrayed me, The Regency has betrayed me, They all have betrayed me... and they shall pay for it" Spawn said to the man before turning around walking down the street. The man looked down at the street shaking his head slowly. Spawn continued walking down the streets of Minoc wearing the clasp that had the emblem of the Dark Order on the strap of his weapon sheath.
