Independent Detective Investigates Lyceum Murder
by Charleston Olbregard
-----------------------------

Are Felluccian territores to unprotectred?! A month after the death of renowned scholar Nostre Stebbin, Independant Detective Wayland has taken up the case. I had a breif chance to meet with him privatly in Castle Brittish. " I've covered thirteen cases in Felucca, twelve of them solved, 3 of them prosecuted. Its time things change around here. I'll get to the bottom of this and send for help from the Trammle Guard. The nature of these cases deems a the dark nature is becomming more and more popular as time goes on. Something, atleast, needs to be done."
Personally I put my faith in this man. May the virtues serve Wayland well.

This is Charleston Olbregard, Stay put Britannia.

Needed and said, the the new was absolute terror to Cear Dallben. One royal incursion and all of the Cabal's Blackrock and progress would be lost forever in unrecorded history.

For the responce to the independant detective the entirety of the Cabal was gathered. But only one was sent to deal with the individual.
Sister to the Zog Cabal Nightshade Strathmore. Her oath resworn she took her orders and set out to the Lyceum. Dragothien would arrive any minute.

As the rest of the Cabalists waited on the lady Strathmore to return they could only wonder her position and if she was well. After say thirty minutes or so speculation erupted. Yet only two people knew what was going on.

Things seem to be going well.

a bit prying but the names are noted....go on....

Meer......abit intrusive but widely unknown.....

Now youve said too much Wayland. Its a shame you were not with us. No. We will see you in a world reborn.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally Nighshade arrived from the northeast with enough breath to alive the cabalists of any tension. All had gone well. and Sadly a life was lost in the preservation of the cabal. She had done well. It turned out the investigator was no novice. He had deducted both Meer and Alchemist? but how?

It was warmer when that happened.......perhaps shedding season? That aside Shade had gathered all of the mans evidence. Perfect, but we couldnt risk staying outside so close to the moongate. As Cear pondered what to do shade came closer to him holding an open book. He looked down from the sky and slowly formed a face of awe.....it was incredible...amazing rather....as the meer man gazed over the document is face shifted in to one of defication, it was complete garbage!

"What is this gibberish Nighshade? where did you find it? What in the Abyss could it mean?"

She said that the detective had found it in the infomants apartment. Its was an aweful eyesore to any scholar or linquist. It was eventually determined it was an Orcish interpretation of Ratman. Normally Dallben would have been able to translate the mess but strangely enough the Orc's level of inteligence made that impossibe. "What rarity" He said. He had only heard of beings such as this living in ancient times in Ilshenar.

"Well we've certainly got to get out of sight. Shade take the Cabal to Empath abbey and seek out a translator. I'll stay here and keep an eye out. Lay low as usual. Draw no attention"

They all nodded and muttered as tho they would actually behave in Cear's leave.

Brother Smythe was the first to act outlandish and draw attention to the Cabal. Next was.....the entire Cabal. The many monks of Empath Abbey stared and steered clear of the Cabalists, who flocked to the nearest unoccupied scholar muttering wickedness and gesturing evil. The poor monks' name was Ames. After battleing the hyperactivity of the Zog Cabalists he was able to relax them long enought for a near free translation. Indeed the script was of ancient educated Orc. But the title froze the man in time. 'Twas, The Pleaders of Chaos.

Now from the moment the monk was brought back form his trance the cabalists noticed he would glance to this other woman every now and again. As well did his intrest and want to aid grow....The Cabalists took the mans near perfect translation and headed out to the one place the ancient book mentioned. Yew under the felluccian moon, the olde Orc Fort.
Shrine of the Blood God.

The Men and Women of the cause could not move further. Food rations were low. and night was to fall soon as usual. They did what they could. Luckly they had a bow to shoot down some food. and dragothien to keep a fire going. Tomarrow they would awake, and we will see what they do............

The next morning the cabalists crept in to blackrock to refresh him of their doings. As the party walked in from the jungle an early morning Cear greeted them as he walked out of the hall of peace.

"Grand your back! and in sooner days then i thought. Spill thy progress!" He cheered.
There was only about a minute of dialouge until a jaw dropped Dallben blabbered out a sentance.
"You set up camp........a few clicks from the Orc fort.....and came here the next day....?GET OUT OF HERE!!!

And with that a gate opened imidiatly and soul before soul vanished into the ethereal hole, and Cear, returned to his business of relieving himself to the ocean. Meanwhile.....far south of Yew...

Well Cear was not happy about that! said one cabalist.
Well it really diddnt make much sence, responded one casual Dragothein
The cabal talked of politics and worldly views, jokes, and times of old at they walked thru the up scaled forests of yew, putting on their skinned orc faces when they drew near to their destination.

Upon arrival to the active fort the cabal assumed the role of a distant tribe who recovered something. Easily seeking out the leader they gained conference. All seemed to be going very well until they revealed what they had come to posses. Upon sight of what the cabalists had he dashed it into the fire and began to speak like an educated scholar. He relieved them of their horrid efforts to speak like orcs and demanded to know where the book was found and who knew of it.

Towards the end much was explained of this secret society. But few things where known. when was if formed? Before of after Blackthorns death? What had they done before he died? What had they accomplished? How deep does this underground war go.....and are they caught up in it. The discussion grew to new depths and the educated hoss orc Shwatta Giee gave to them a most aged script. one wtitten in the old way. a foundation to the pleaders, or atleast one age of them. For it spoke of the fallen Blackthorn.

The cabal grabed the item with lust and dashed away to the resting place of Lord Blackthorn, giving what promises they could to the Orc.

As the cabalists arrive the scene was stagnant. No one was around. and the nature there was still and quiet. erie. After one cabalist read the first engraving of the tomb, shade, holding the book in her arms finished the rest, and with this a stranger emerged from the darkness walking with a
candle in his hand. he paused infrom of the leaders case and faced the girl holding the book. he eyed it and her warmly, and with sadness do note. He asked them of Blackthorns virtues and wether he was a man of principal or not. would he choose to stay with monks of kings in times of refuge, and wether he was a posibility or protocol. The man was pleased with everything hte visitors said, and he led them into the Lords castle. As they entered the door the mans body flickered with the revelation of a materialess being, as the stone contraption near Blackthorn glowed behind their backs. They did not pay mind however. It is not of them to do so. they proceeded to follow the man to Blackthorns room. Where the entity opened a dresser, and then opened the back wall. An artifact was retreived and given to the visitors. It was a golden shield bearing the emblem of Blackthorns life purpose, all around it were runic carvings and the metal had an incredible shine to it. as the cabalists eyeballed the a smiths masterpeice the animated man simple walked to the balcony, and remained silent in tribute, before fadeing away after some time.

What next?
