The zookeeper had received the letter from Fong. As he read it a smile spread over his face. Five thousand gold pieces to start up a trade route to Ilshlenar to get the desired harpy meat that the zoo required. Daz wasted no time; soon he had all the supplies for his trip to Ilshlenar. He would be gone for some time.

First, he would need to set up a base camp somewhere in Ilshlenar. There was a tavern with rooms available that he would go to and begin his hunt for a new supply chain to satisfy the zoo’s harpy meat hunger. From the tavern, he would hire some local gypsies or adventurers. Then they would go out to find harpies and stockpile the meat, and perhaps the feathers, for the archers of Moonglow. The meat would have to be dried and heavily salted for the long trip back. Harpy jerky was extremely tasty and a good commodity that would not go bad like fresh meat would. The zookeeper decided that he would fill his packs before heading back to the zoo in order to maximize productivity without costly return trips. Once the supply chain to the zoo was up and running smoothly, he would return to Moonglow with the first shipment.

This would also be a great opportunity to study harpies. He was interested in their social workings and physiology. He would watch and learn what he could about harpy behavior and ecology. He had even heard tales of golden harpies, but had to dismiss these as mere children’s tales.

He was ready to go by noon. The zookeeper spent the rest of the afternoon with Lee. Half jokingly, he told her he would bring her one of the mythical golden harpies. They both enjoyed a good laugh. The zookeeper left Moonglow, through the moongate, after eating the last meal that he and Lee would share for sometime.
