Vaen had been tortured by Marcus's reexistance ever since he had murdered Angel. The thought constantly ran through his mind, even though people were trying to help him. Natalya Vorn and Jolicia have both tried to help Vaen cope with his loss. Even though he appears to be fine, he is constantly going through an eternal struggle. He believes that this is due to Marcus's reexistance. Therefore, Vaen has set out on a journey to find Marcus and end this suffering once and for all. He sent out pigeons to both Natalya and Jolicia, informing them of his journey, letting them know that he has been suffering greatly due to Marcus, and wishes to end this suffering by attempting to end Marcus.

Vaen ran down the streets of Minoc, searching for any sign of Marcus. Peering into every shop, every house, and looking around every corner, to no avail. Vaen then ran to the mines, glancing in. Seeing no sign of anyone whatsoever, Vaen left the town of Minoc.
Vaen continued his search to what were some of Marcus's fascinations as a child: Mountains. Vaen made his way to the mountains north of Minoc. As kids, Marcus and he used to climb these mountains, so he knew how to get up them. At the top, he found nothing. Had he began his search for no reason? Perhaps this journey was a bad idea. Vaen turned around, and his eyes immediately focused on a hooded figure, staring at him from a distance.
"Well well, Vaen. Surprised you're still coming here." Marcus said with a grin.
"Marcus..."
"I suppose you're looking to fight me. After all, I did kill that harlot of yours."
Vaen gripped his katana, glaring over at Marcus. "Don't you dare..."
"What?" Marcus chuckled. "I only ended a mere Rogue's life. All she did was kill people for a living. What were you doing with her? She was nothing, Vaen."
"I loved her..."
"Love..." Marcus laughed. "Still hoping that one day you'll find that special person, eh Vaen?"
Vaen grumbled, keeping his eyes on Marcus. "Your father killed my mother, and you killed my fiancee. Marcus, you're no longer a friend of mine, and there is no room for you to even earn back the trust and friendship that we shared as children. I warn you Marcus, draw your blade, and let's get this over with once and for all."
Marcus grinned. "So virtuous of you, Vaen. Acting on your anger."
Vaen narrowed his eyes. "There are those who deserve virtues, and those who deserve to be defended by virtues. You, Marcus, are neither."
Marcus chuckled, and then pulled out his kryss. "Vaen, Vaen, Vaen. Always trying to be something special."
Vaen got into ready position, holding his sword out infront of him and his shield at his side, ready to attack at a moment's notice.
Marcus readied himself at well, glaring across at Vaen and smiling. "I will kill you with the very blade that I killed Angel with. You will see her soon Vaen, and then, perhaps, you will thank me."
Vaen charged at Marcus and swings his blade down to him. Marcus but his kryss up in defense, and growled at Vaen. Marcus pushed Vaen back, and Vaen tripped and fell down on his back. Marcus quickly placed a foot on Vaen's neck, stepping down on it hard.
Marcus placed his kryss at Vaen's chest. "And now, Vaen, it's time for a reunion with your fiancee..."
