He had seen enough. Enough blood. Enough fire. Enough Demons. The moongate had turned black. A sure sign that the gods had abandoned this town to its judgment. The zookeeper ran the streets of Magincia defending the city and helping out were he could, although the outcome had already been decided.
-------------------------------
In the days past Daz had come to this city under disguise. He watched as the people of Maginicia lived lives full of pride. Pride blinded them. They had no idea what was about to happen. He had heard the leaders of this land balk and scoff at mere mention that the judgment of their pride was at hand. They had ignored the warnings that the land itself was telling them. The visions and phenomenon went unrealized by the City of Pride. The zookeeper heard these warnings and believed; as did many outside of Magincia.
The zoo’s charter was given to Moonglow by Britain itself many years ago. And the charter clearly stated that one of the main purposes for the inception of the zoo was to protect the biological diversity of Sosaria. To this end he had been entrusted by the zoo and Moonglow to save what he could.
Magincia was home to many indigenous plant and animal species that were found no where else in Sosaria. He had compiled a list of these very important organisms and set off in one of Moonglow’s vessels. The list included:
The Magincia Silverback, a rare guerrilla
The Green Tree Viper, a small but very deadly snake
The White-Striped Diamondhead, a very large constrictor.
The Swift-Tail Nightingale, who’s song was among the most beautiful in all the lands.
The Pons De’la Quil, commonly referred to as, the slimy fern, for obvious reasons.
Seeds of the mighty Biskus Tree, a single seed could weigh ten stones.
The elusive Magincia Humming Cricket, very rarely seen by human eyes.
The mongbats were considered a nuisance animal much like the rats. They were brought to the island by humans and so they were left to the same fate. Moonglow had enough mongbats and rats of its own.
After several days of collecting specimens, the zookeeper had filled his boat with as much as he could and headed back to Moonglow. The zoo would take care of all of these creatures so that perhaps some day the island could be repopulated with its wonderful natural diversity. _________________
