Captain Roger de Clare heard sounds of magical energy blasts and weapons clashing out in the streets of Magincia. He quickly left his ship which had just anchored at the northern beach and rode into the city.

He saw demons, dark fathers, revenants. He saw warriors and mages from strange lands fighting them. Desperately holding them at the city limits. He saw body after body of monster and warrior heaped on the streets.

Quickly he rode back to his ship and scribbled a note for Duchess Molly. He handed it to Halfdan, the ship's captain.

"Send that by pigeon! Hurry!" and he rode into the fray.

Xana stood before the fireplace in the bedroom she'd been sharing with Roger, nervously twirling the bracelet on her wrist as she tended to do when distracted or feeling undue stress. The sparkle in his eyes of late indicated to her that he was probably engaged in some type of intrigue, and this worried her greatly. It frightened her to think that he might eventually get himself into a situation that would result his not returning home. The gypsy was unsure if his less-than-detailed descriptions of his adventures were a curse or a blessing.

Roger had been so vague in recent weeks about what he was doing, where he was going--and he was gone so much more than usual. When he had left earlier in the day for the docks, the paladin seemed too hyper, too eager, too something, as he kissed her forehead and bid her farewell.

However, his blatant eagerness to get to Magincia caused her the greatest fright yet. She'd heard rumors of something nasty afoot there, and it horrified her that anybody would want to plunge forward into such a mess if even half the rumors were true.

With a sigh she slowly undressed and slid under the blankets of their bed, her heart heavy.

Xana was fearful that she would never see him again.

The messenger was leaving as she gathered her things and called for her mount. She gated to Serpent's Hold and presented her information to the Regency meeting. After some discussion they said they would be poising their ships on the seas around the island to take on refugees. They would send in observers to watch the situation.

She then headed for home to perpare for battle. She met with Will and they headed for the ship that Molly had moored off the shores of New Haven.

After much determined issues getting her pet on the ship and off again they headed for the center of town. All seemed quiet though many of the trees were burned and scarred with earlier battles. She and Will made their way to the moongate. It had turned black since her previous visit to the Island a week before.

There were many standing around including Lord Oakman from Stormhaven days and Lord Halister Marner of the Heralds of the Awakening, both old friends. All seemed quiet but from the discussions among the people there, Will and Molly they had just missed a wave of invasion. The participants handled it and quelled the onslaught. After a time the Lady Temptation Waits arrived. She asked of the earlier battles taking notes to share her findings with the Regency.

All seemed at peace and most of those standing there decided to call it a night, assuming that the battles were over for the evening. Even Deamons must rest so they all concluded.

Will and Molly headed back to the docks where their ship was tied up. As they turned the corner to head south along the road to the ship they heard screams coming from the healer's hut. They both headed towards the noise and saw the healers being attacked by all sorts of ungodly creatures. Acting fast they made short work of them and helped the healer get some of her patients back to bed.

In the distance they heard more noises and sounds of burning. The smell of smoke was heavy in the air blotting out what light was coming from above. They headed back to the moongate as shadows and flames mingled with the sounds of battle and fallen beasts some they had never seen before. Molly told FlyingGauntlet to kill and she made short work of the onslaught but there were many. Will surcomed to the flames and heat of battle. Propping him up against a tree with fresh bandages and a pitcher of water Molly went to find FlyingGauntlet who had been protecting the perimitter where Will was recovering.

The battle raged on for some time until Molly's armor was depleted. There seemed to be fewer coming and Will was not in very good shape when Molly returned to check on him. She decided they should go. She helped Will up, placing his arm over her shoulder and he limped his way back to the ship. All the while FlyingGauntlet was keeping the fire imps at bay so that Will and Molly could make their way back to the ship without incident.

Molly carefully helped Will onto the ship and she told the Tillerman to take them out to opened waters. He abliged and they got far enough out to where their transportation spells would work. They left the ship and the Tillerman to protect it, anchored in the bay.

Once home Will was feeling better. Molly bandaged his remaining wounds. She got him to bed and healed a few burns she had gotten while in the battle. As she and he settled speaking softly before bed, they decided they would return on the morrow. She kissed him gently on the cheek she snuggled up next to him being careful not to cause him any more pain from his wounds. He smiled down at her and kissed her on the head pressing her head against his chest. Sleep love. We have a big day tomorrow. he said softly as they both dozed off.
