Fifteen long, hard, painful years. That is how long it had been for Gideon since he last saw the walls of the place of his birth Trinsic. He had sworn on that day that he left he would not return home till his families killer was found and brought to justice, but now things had changed. Tired and careworn Gideon did not know where to turn to next so putting aside his pride he now found himself standing outside the walls of Trnsic on his mount Glory trying to decide if he should take that last step and enter the City.
Fifteen years ago he had woken in the night to find his mother screaming at the top of her lungs as she lay across the body of his youngest brother all covered in blood. Gideon rushed to see what was wrong and was horrified to find his brothers body broken and white as the cleanest sheet after a days wash. It had looked like all the life had been sucked out of him yet there was not a drop of blood on him so where could his mother had gotten so much blood on herself. He tried his best to get her attention and calm her down so she could speak and tell him what happened but was unsuccessful. He then realized he saw no sign of where his father was, perhaps he had gone to get the City Guards. Gideon then got up from the ground where he was kneeling and made his way to the door. He rand down stairs tripping on something laying across the last step. with a grunt he hit the flool hard. He slowly got himself up off the floor and searched the near by table for a candle.
Once he found the candle he looked back towards the stairs what he found there made him scream but no sound came out of his mouth. Laying on the floor was what was left of his fathers body. Gideon bent over and vomitted at the sight before him. Gathering himself he then ran out of hallway towards the door. When he got to the door there was no door what was there was broken pieces of wood all over the place. Pausing only a few seconds to look at this diaster he then regained his train of thought and ran out of hole where the door use to be and made his way towards where the guardsman were stationed.
Two hours later after the guardsman finally followed the young man to his parents house the city was put on alert, his father remains and his brothers body were removed from the house. Gideon and his mother were given a room inside the city walls. His mother still would not talk and even would not acknowledge Gideon's presence in the room, she stayed in the room in bed with a blank look on her face like no one was there. She remained like that for four days. On there fourth day of stayin at the room in the inn he found her in bed but not breathing he ran to get the healers but they could do nothing for her. The healers never did find out what caused her death other then possibly a broken heart.
After his mothers death Gideon took on a job working for a blacksmith by the name of Thorin Ironhand. The work was hard and the pay was enough to keep the room at the inn though he was not sure if that was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life for there was a burning desire for revenge in his heart. A year after his fathers death was when he met a man by the name a Alfric Wolfsbane. A former paladin now a hired sword. Alfric liked to drink and one night the Keg and Anchor got in abit of trouble with a local tanner. Alfric's luck was with him that night for Gideon was doing errands for Thorin and was able to save Alric's hide from that day forth Gideon spent all his time with Alfric. The adventures the former Paladin told intrigued the young man furthermore there were reports of strange deaths all throughout the land which brought much work for a warrior looking for a good pay day after all caravan's and other things needed protection along the road ways of Britannia. That night Gideon went to bed with dreams of glory and riches. Three days later when Alfric went off on a job to guard a caravan that was going from Trinsic to Yew Gideon went with him.
Fifteen years later Gideon now found himself standing infront of the walls of Trinsic watching the guards walk across them. He wondered what all had changed since his long sojourn out in the world of Britannia for he had not been back since the day he left. There was only one way to find out and that was to go into the City..Slowly Gideon dismounted Glory and made his way toward Trinsic wondering all the while how much Trinsic will have changed for this son of Trinsic. |

The return home for Gideon was not as quiet as Gideon had thought it would be. Infact Trinsic looked to be very busy then he remembered it. Not knowing for sure what was going on he stoped to ask a man by the bank.
"Have you been living in a cave son? Magnicia is under attack by deamon thats the reason for all these people in the City." said the elderly man to Gideon. The old man went on to tell Gideon about the strange happenings days before the attack, how the moongate to the city of Magincia no longer works and the only way to get there was by boat or by the ferry at the docks in Trinsic. Gideon thanked the man for the information and then set off to the room he had rented the night before. Once there he opened the chest where his belongings were stored and began putting on his armor. Once he was fully dressed and armed he then made his way out of his room and towards the docks.
The docks of Trinsic were the busiest part of the City Warriors, Mages and Tamers were all lined up to use the ferry to cross the ocean to get to Magincia. After waiting for about an hour Gideon finally found himself on the docks of Magnicia to his shock the docks where on fire..The heat was so great he began sweating heavily as soon as he steped off the boat. He tried dodging the flames as best he could even coming close to setting his cloak on fire once. Running up the steps after clearing the docks he could hear fighting and screaming not far off. Finally making it to the edge of the city he couldnt believe his eyes at what he saw.. Hordes of Demons where trying to destory the city throwing fire everywhere they went. The warriors and mages he saw fighting the demons were fighting bravely and for the moment seemed to have the upper hand even though there were losses to there number for there were bodies laying there and about.
Gideons first few encounters with the demons went pretty well, hard fought battles but he was able to send them back to the void they came from, but this success wasnt to last for when he turned the corner of a building he was met by an onslaught of Demons. He was able to take down two before the numbers overpowered him and he fell to darkness. Three hours later he awoke inside a building lined with beds and seemed to be filled with others that were sick or injured. He tired to get out of bed but a healer walking by stoped him from getting up.
" There..There.. now must not have that. Your too weak to get out of bed just yet..youve suffered some minor wounds and a few broken ribs, but the blow you took to the head Im afraid will keep you dizzy for a day or two atleast so you must lay still." said the healer. The healer then walked over to the next bed to check the person laying there.
"Great, stuck here in bed when a battle is going on and able bodies are needed" Gideon mumbled to himself as he lay his head back down on his pillow. He tried to keep himself awake but the healer was correct in his assessment of the head injury Gideon recieved from the demons for withing mintutes he had passed out again. He drifted off into a nightmire of Magnicia burning and crumbling and his parents and brother caught in the mist of things. |

Three days later Gideon was finally able to stay awake without passing out. Those three days where the some of the worst in his life, endless nightmires of his family dying in many ways kept his sleep from being peaceful. When he awoke his head felt better but this ribs felt like they had gotten worse. He could not lift his sword arm without intense pain, he also realized he had lost abit of weight since being stuck in this bed and being unable to eat since he couldnt stay awake long enough. "Well theres no way Im going to be fighting in this condition." he grumbled as he grabed a staff laying up against the wall near his bed and pulled himself up off the bed. Gideon then slowly walked over to the armoire to gather his things, once there he opened the door and to his suprise his armor and his weapons were not there. "Just great! While I lay napping some bloodly thief steals my things.!" he yelled as he turned around to look for someone to complain too.
An elderly healer a few beds down stood up and turned to look at the bellowing warrior..he made a shhhing sound then made his way towards Gideon. "Clam down young man no need to wake the sick what is the matter?" Gideon then explained quietly about this things. Once he was done with his story the healer began to shake his head. " No, No, there be no thieves in this building your things my young lad were lost logn before you were brought here Im afraid" . The healer patted Gideon on the shoulder then returned back to his work. Gideon knowing he wasnt going to get anywhere with the healers grunted and then slowly walked to the door.
Once outside he took a deep breath of fresh air and looked up at the sun hovering above the City of Trinsic. "Well least my saviours brought me back here instead of leaving me to die on Magnicia." he thought to himself briefly before looking down the streets at the people going about there bussiness. "where do I go from here? Back to my room I suppose?." He spoke softly to himself then started to make his way down the street that would lead to his room. While walking he began to think about the battle that landed him in his current state, he began to realize he was the only one to blame for where he's at now. Going off into battle without help was not wise and furthermore rushing into a fight before weighing your surroundings was foolish. He'd have to think better next time he was to go into a fight that was anywhere near the size of the one going on in Magincia. But what was he to do about not fighting alone? In his past he always had other men for hire helping him guard caravan's but he neither had the money to hire men for battle or the willingness to go back to that life style. Perhaps it was time to find a order to follow. Perferrably one based in Trinsic and with a commander he could take orders from. He'd have to think about this more tomorrow for now it was time to get back to his room.
The walk to his room took half the day it seemed but after a few stops to gather some supplies and visit the local blacksmith shops to see about obtaining some new armor and weapons he finally made it back to his. He layed the staff he took from the healers building near the foot of the bed then sat down and took off his boots and began to undress for the night. Once done and laying down in bed he then began drifting off to sleep all the while wondering what became of the land his families house use to stand on. That would be something he'd have to check on tomorrow he thought as he finally fell into a deep sleep filled once again with nightmires about his family. |
