In damp, dark cave, far below the streets and the hustle and bustle of Britainia, to a lowely Drow family was born Barnabus Do'Lil. His house had been labeled "Renegade" by the higher order for the crime of thievery, but this was no ordinary theft. They had stolen "The Great Book of Romans", writings and illustrations in which his people had based their very civilization on.
It was this very book, given to his people, (as the story goes) ages ago by the Earthen prophet Arr'Gee, the front page, long since ripped out, bearing his name, Property of Arr'Gee.
From this book, they founded there code of law. From their interpretations, you were either a good citizen or criminals, and a criminal's fate was to be put on public display and forced to fight amongst the other criminals until death. Very rarely would a criminal get a "thumbs down" pass of death, as most spectators, giving the "slash throat" signal, would much rather see the "Gladiator"" receive his punishment and all the blood, gore, and animal-like screams that came with it.
It was the latter side of the law that Barnabus's house had found itself and realizing their fate, fled to the surface, taking the book, least they not forget how to live.
