Arriving home after the roast for Morus, Toni called for Ayana. "How is Niall doing"

"He is well Ma'am. His wound has been cleaned and dressed. He is now resting well." She spoke softly.

With a nod, Toni headed up to her personal quarters. She rested her hand on Niall's door and gently pushed it open. Her son was growing into a man, noble and stubborn as his father. She walked over and pulled the covers up to his chin and kissed his forehead. She blew out the candle before she silently snuck out of his room. Once in the hall she leaned back on the wall and sighed heavily.

She could feel the rage creeping back into her and closed her eyes tightly hoping to keep her thoughts clear. Hastily she headed back downstairs to her office where she searched for parchment and a quill. Ayana, hearing the rustling, opened the door. "Ma'am, is all well? Shall I get anything for you?"

Toni looked at her then ran a hand through her hair. She slumped back in her chair. "Ayana, please find me a scroll and a quill, I believe Tonessa has taken them again." She tried to keep her anger from reaching out to anyone other than who it was directed at. "And if you could some fresh water. I imagine I shall be up for a little while."

"Yes Ma'am." She replied bowing her head as she left.

Toni steepled her fingers under her chin and closed her eyes. Her brother! Of all people, her own brother. So much for the thought that blood was thicker than water. This was the second attack on her son and she would not stand for it any longer. Was she not kind to his? Her niece wandered here with no place to go. A child still. Had she not given her a home and promised the girl protection?

Ayana returned swiftly carrying a pitcher of water and a ceramic mug; tucked under her arm was the parchment and quill. "Here you are Ma'am." She placed the items on the desk. "Will there be anything else Ma'am?"

She opened her eyes and glanced up. "No Ayana, you may retire for the night. I shall see this gets sent personally when I am done."

Nodding her head, Ayana once again left the room, closing the door softly behind her.

She looked down at the parchment and picked up the quill. Slowly the words formed in her mind as she wrote.

Zeth...

I would say I hope this letter finds you well, however following this eve's events in Moonglow, I cannot say I do.

You have made attacks on my son twice now. The first time, luckily enough he was not harmed. This time he was.

If this is your personal anger directed at me for not standing, as you put it "in my place beside you", then you have directed your attack at the wrong person. We certainly are of two different worlds, you and I brother dear. You will always walk in your darkness. That is no place for me. I walk in the light with concern for others, even if they do not follow my beliefs.

At this time your concerns over my husbands anger for you should not be at the forefront of your thoughts. It is I you must deal with now. You say I am a MelGair. Our father, may his soul rest peacefully, had more compassion than you have shown, and nor do I believe would he have agreed with your recent actions.

I have shown respect for your family, and kept your secrets. These are things I shall continue to do as I see them as family matters. It is unfortunate you do not share the same loyalty and respect for family as I do.

When next we meet, brother dear, know this. You may be my family, but you will deal with my rage over what you have done to my son.

I shall see you soon...very soon.

Rolling the parchment tightly she sealed it with wax and imprinted it with the seal of Sanctus.

She left her office and walked out the great doors to her house. Breathing in deeply of the night air, she summoned her charger. Normally she would whisper a spell to whisk her to where she wished to be. Tonight she needed to ride, to calm some of the anger she felt throughout her body. Hastily she made her way through the caves along the road to the dark lands. She arrived after a few moments of riding and dismounted. She looked up at the wolf's den. The windows she could see were all dark. No wonder Zari had left home. The young girl had potential. She may be of his blood but she definitely did not carry his beliefs. She walked to the door and looked down at his wolf statue on the step. He would surely find the letter here, she thought as she tucked the letter between the teeth of the statue.

"Soon brother...soon"

She mounted her charger once again, however instead of riding swiftly back to her comfort of her home, she took a slower pace. Almost defying the warnings of being in the dark lands. She had dealt with some of them before, and she did not worry.
