(OOC)
Greetings,
I have been considering a server transfer from my home server of Lake Superior to a server with a more active (and friendly) RP community. What I am basically looking for is an RP community which is the exact opposite of what is on LS. I am looking for an RP community that puts the spirit of the community above petty OOC disagreements and dislike with my prime belief having always been that the players do not have to like each other in order to RP with or against each other. I am looking for an RP community that is not afraid to get it's hands dirty, one where guild wars and sporadic PvP is a daily occurance, one where the political entities are not afraid to take what they want by force and will not hesitate to defend what they have against attack.
I have read over these forums and checked the warfare rankings, what I see is an RP community that may be what I am looking for. I know that nothing is perfect and even this community has its problems but it seems that the majority care about this community and are willing to put it first and foremost above any person, guild, group or organization.
I further see that you have many political groups and these political groups respect each others territory, laws and boundaries with the only exception being done via RPed war and conflict, which is the proper way.
So far what I see is one thousand times better than what I have had to deal with on LS for the last four years.
I have mentioned what I see on the exterior and I hope the same is true on the interior but if I am incorrect, please let me know. In the meantime I will tell you all a little about myself.
As mentioned before I am currently on Lake Superior which has been my home server since 1997. I started playing UO in phase 2 alpha in 1995 and have been on and off the game ever since then. My main expertises is PKing and PvP but I have long since retied from the before mentioned as my primary in mid 2002 when I decided to explore other aspects of the game. My interest in structured RP did not come until 2003 after I had helped coordinate a large server run event on LS with DENNAR (You may of heard the name before).
I have never considered my myself to be a good RPer, hardly an RPer at all. After reading your rules and guidelines I do realize that I may not fit in here. My first attempt at structured RP in 2003 was not a great experience. I found that I was to aggressive after learning that PvP and conflict is not part of the LS RP community. Basically it is comprised of small groups who lay claim and act as they govern certain cities or even whole facets yet are never willing to fight for what they claim to govern, and any opposition to their rule is ignored as if it did not exist.
Even in light of my bad experience from 2003, I gave it another try in 2004 when I founded the City-State of Umbra, an evil political entity which governed the city of Malas later later evolved into the Shadow Empire after our enemies in Luna has been destroyed. The Empire held control of all Malas. Prior to the release of UO:SE we decided that we would lay claim to Tokuno before our enemies in Trammel could thus denying them additional resources. This expansion into Tokuno was met with little resistance but did fire up the possibility of large scale war over a long period of time when it was learned that the RG (Royal Guard) had set up a n outpost near the city of Zento.
Diplomacy between the Empire and the governing body of Trammel, the HC (High Council) followed soon after. Their Grand Marshal of their Royal Guard insisted that they be allowed to act within Tokuno as the first line of defense against a potential invasion. OOC that is exactly what we were in the works to do with the RG. Pretty much every was planned out with only a date needing to be set, but the HC threw a bone in the plan when they voted against the RG continued presence in Tokuno. This could have been worked around but their Grand Marshal was pissed off and ended up resigning shortly after. It was also found out that vote against the action was done out of OOC spite when it was learned that one person held two seats and used both votes, plus those he influenced, to vote against the action. What followed was just a massive flame war that could of been averted but was too long gone already.
I won't get into what happened during my third try in 2005, I'll just say that by that time the LS RP community was not even a shadow of it's former past. All attempts to rebuild the community met with resistance and failure due to one small group.
The before mentioned is only here so that you can get a general idea of what myself and my guild had to deal with, and so that you can what I do not want to deal with again. I do not want to part of another RP community that conducts all it's IC actions based on OOC knowledge, dislike or rivalries. Another major issue was people playing both if not all sides. It made things nearly impossible to coordinate or keep secret as someones "evil" alt always had to share it with their "good" character.
If I do decide to transfer for over I will be looking for an evil RP/PvP guild that is active in both the talking portion and the actual fighting portion of RP conflict. I may also be able to bring a few people with me though most of my guild has quit the game. In the future I may re-establish my guild on this server but for now I want nothing to do with leadership or politics.
If there are any evil RP/PvP guilds on this server that fit the above description and may be interested in another member or two, feel free to PM me on these forums. I won't lie to you though, I am seldom active and on my way out of the game permanently, this last ditch attempt to hold on for a while longer. Potential guilds that may be interested in my service should I transfer to Atlantic can learn a bit more about me. and my involvement on LS, can do so in the following thread:

Thank you all for your time and I look forward to reading any of your responces. |

I can tell you honestly we are not so different than LS but we are in that we all care about this community. We have had our differences but at the end of the day noone wants to see it fall and we all (sometimes reluctantly) will work together to keep Atlantic Roleplay going. So if you are looking for a place where it is all rosy and flowers that isn't here but if you are looking for a group of hard working roleplayers interested in building rather than tearing down you are at the right place.
Welcome to Atlantic. _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel

The Dark Order, a Lawful Evil Militaristic guild, is always on the lookout for anyone who'd like to RP evil, first time or old-school.
The Umbran Empire (did I say that right,Merci? Cein?), is also of the dark breed and very active. AND you get not one but TWO lovely matriarchs for your money.
Isk's Magincia based guild isn't evil incarnate....errmmm..at least not yet, but has it's own...hmm unique? aspects that might appeal to to you if your a HUMAN with HUMAN designs against all things NOT HUMAN. (fun & interesting stuff)
hmm.... before I try to recruit for every guild out there, I'll just stop now.
GREETINGS right back at ya! Whether you choose Atlantic or not, thanks for coming in & taking the time to say such a nice hello. If you do choose this sometimes scarey, sometimes dysfunctional family, I hope that you can make a alot of fun new rp memories for yourself and also hope to see you around one of the taverns some chilly eve. Two of my favorites are Hanse Hostel (located in the beautiflly scenic Lightbringer kingdom of Sanctus), and ..okay I might lose friends here but I forgot the name of the player tavern in Umbra so would someone please help me out on that? It's really fun though & the bartender lady is very sweet. It also sports a dance pole. And the Dark Order gets free drinks in Umbra too, *wink wink* , at least we did til I forgot the name of their tavern. _________________ **************************************

Thank you all for the warm welcome
I don't expect any community to be perfect but anything has to be better than LS at this point. The sheer activity on these forums and the kind welcome alone is a huge positive. Over the years on LS such similar posts would have been met with a rude response of some type.
It has always been my belief that a community should be able to look past individual differences and work together for a common goal. This is similar to what one would find in the workplace; the employees don't have to like each other they just have to work together, of course there is always a degree of backstabbing for self-purpose.
I have been basing this server mainly on these forums and what I have seen from the guild rankings. How active are the RP warguilds and is the fighting pretty frequent? Does it just occur during staged events or is it sporadic and randomly occurring as well?
I have seen mention of two different community standards; ARPC and FAR. I have been able to read up on the ARPC but have not had any luck learning about FAR yet. What exactly is the difference between these two? Any links would be helpful
As for guilds, the only one that has contacted me so far is the Realm of Umbra. I am currently looking over their rules, philosophy and structure to see if I would fit in there. I will also check out the Dark order as well. If anyone has a master list of all the "evil" guilds on the server along with their web addresses I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you all again. |

Welcome to Atlantic. We can be a tight knit community if the need arises (hackings and other non-UO related catastrophes) but other times we are more a dysfunctional family.
The best idea, in my opinion, would be to stick around and experience what we have to offer.
PVP, as far as I can tell, usually just happens for declared wars. Sometimes there might be encounters but there are also specific rules for them. I am sure you've read up on those already. But most interactions between good and evil here are by word, rather than by swordpoint. Or I could be wrong.
FAR and ARPC are... well... My take is, they are like NATO and, well, NATO #2. Huger interguild alliances, rather than separate communities. Both interact with each other, however on a smaller scale than would ARPC guilds interact, as example. We all are part of the greater Atlantic Roleplaying Community.
It also seems that FAR is more Trammel/Felucca based, while ARPC is more Malas based, with a nice sprinkle of other facets in each of them of course.
And of course ARPC has a cool emblem or crest.
I would have loved to recruit you for my guild, but I'm afraid we are [L]Awful Good. *smiles* _________________ Reality, the refuge of those who fail in RPGs

Welcome to Atlantic!
As someone who has many friends in different roleplay communities across various shards, I can say with certainty Atlantic, while still having some issues inherent with running a roleplay community, has a comparatively low amount of drama compared to almost all other shards.
As for wars, it's truly dependent on the current situation. There are times of relative peace where battles are few and far between, then there are times of heavy war where raids and large battles happen almost daily, it depends on the RP at the time. _________________ "There are those who dream to escape reality, and there are those who dream to change it." |

Thank you Sir Robert and Halister Marner
I have spoken to the Mistress of the Realm of Umbra, I thank her for her time and filling me in on her guild, but I believe I may of made an error. If I do transfer to Atlantic I will be searching for a combat oriented group in your community but leans more to PvP than RP. As I mentioned before, I am not that great of an RPer but pretty good in a fight, even though I need to make up for 8 months of not playing which would not take long at all. I looked over the Dark Order forums but was told, and after what I read, they seem very similar to the Realm of Umbra.
I do hope that I did not offend either of the mentioned guilds, the last thing I want to is commit to a guild that I would end up disappointing, I am sure that is easily understandable. |

No offense at all sir. Like I suggested though, possibly try that guild Slap, or someone they are warred to. They do battles in trammel and such all the time. Try Family of War. I think they are FoW, not sure. |

I would PM Imryrr Armunn (or Ditto) of the Dark Order and ask her about things regarding the Dark Order.
It is a Militaristic guild. Lawful Evil. It's in the stage of rebuilding at the moment since it was disbanded by me when I quit UO close to three years ago.
My friend is in the process of rebuilding. It might be of some interest. |

Tarothin, is right. Except, I'll be PM'ing you. Cein knows her stuff, I'd listen to her about the Pvp guild references.
And, no offense taken. _________________
