When Imryrr entered the throneroom where the Sheriff of Sanctus, Malic, waited, she had some how expected to see a much older man. She walked up to observe him. Yes, he was indeed a Sanctan. Standing tall and proud yes, but, there was something else about him. A more patient air was about this one.
After inviting him upstairs to the quietness of the sitting room, she relaxed back, and took full advantage to observe him as he spoke. But, their voices were soon joined with other sounds near by. The near wailing, and eerie sounds of a shadow wraith. An unseen cold would drift on the air by her, and she became annoyed to no end. However, not wishing to disturb her guest, she tried to ignore it and her discomfort.
Talks were proceeding well at first. Malic was not boring and drab like she found most of the soldiers in Sanctus. He put his mission first, not his ego. Imryrr tested this just slightly with a light jab. He did not take the bait, and concentrated still on what he was there for. She nodded at something he said, but more to herself as she made the decission that she liked this man in an odd way, or at least, some of his qualities.
Reading carefully through the papers he'd handed her, she concurred that they were well written articles that stuck mostly to the point.
Though she did not, by any means trust Sanctus, she began to think that they just might be able to do business on this issue. If an agreement were worded simply enough in writing, she could always find a loop hole later, if needed. The agreement, not needed in her opinion, might help in a useful move in the future. Her allies in Umbra might well be of the same mind. Malic had mentioned that they had a contract with Umbra as well. She was handed the agreement, and she smiled. It was about as basic as an agreement could get. Good. She was sold on the idea. Only one thing left before she would agree to sign....
...An apology for Sanctus' insults done to herself personally, and to the Dark Order. Her honor and her pride would accept nothing from them or agree to anything until she received it.
Malic patiently tried to explain his standing. Why he couldn't represent Sanctus in that way. Why he could not give her what she demanded. He could only make an apology for his own division. Imryrr understood this, so she told him to find someone who could represent Sanctus.
Her eyes flashed at the thought of Talon himself apologizing to her, but she knew better. That would not happen.
Imryrr stood firm with her demand. Malic stood firm in his denial. And it seemed the conversation was at an impasse. She was annoyed and felt her time wasted, and became louder, more confrontational. The shadow wraith did not help with her impatience either. Though it had quieted down after she spoke briefly to her father, it still stayed. As Imryrr's posture changed towards her guest, so too, did the wraith's. A chill hovered just behind her where she now stood, glancing back, she saw it's form. She moved off to the side to get it from being at her back. It was about this time when Imryrr decided that the conversation was done and that Malic was no longer welcome in DarkCove. Final promises were made to each other sealing a different sort of agreement. One of a more threatening nature.
Imryrr toyed with the thought of having Malic arrested. She would like very much to see that happen, but no. Honor demanded that she would allow him his leave. But she offered that no more that eve would his presence be under Dark Order protection.
The shadow wraith moved to view her, when she spoke her final words to Malic. As if in a reply to an unspoken question, Imryrr turned her back to the Sheriff to watch the flames crackle in the fireplace and she listened to the sounds of the attack.
Imryrr's true reason for turning to the fire was to mask her own surprised expression when the wraith had formed across the room, it's gaze trained steadily on Malic after glancing at her..... she thought she recognized that form.
Moments later, after collecting her composure, Malic had escaped and the shadow wraith was no longer seen.

Malic drew his sword and quickly blocked and countered the wreith several times. He wished not to slay it in the Armunn Keep. He fought bravely just to deflect and repel the attack. After a few moments he began chanting while swinging his sword.
Malic arrived back in Sanctus just in time for the King's Open Court. He gave no formal report on the topic yet and just stated that agreements are underway in many cities. At the end of the night Malic went for a ride to meet a close friend.
He told his companion of the meeting with the Dark Order and mentioned her odd gazes and stares toward him. Malic's confidont dismissed the Sheriff's thoughts as mere paranoia. Malic stayed with his friend and talked for a while before heading back to the M'real Abbey for the eve.. _________________ The Light of Virtue Shines Through All Darkness
