Veryo stood quietly overlooking the wyvern corpse. Tears began to slowly trickle down his face as he thought about what had just transpired. Two of his best friends had been slain. A once proud and majestic creature had been reduced to a puppet-state, now lying on the ground helplessly at the feet of his assailants.

“I must go. Please, leave me be.” Veryo walked away from the terrible scene and headed for the sanctity of his nearby village to contemplate.

The wyvern was not always bad, it had at one time been a symbol of Veryo’s village. It aided in hunting wild animals for food, provided protection from brigands and assorted miscreants, and gave hope to a people who at one time were oppressed by an increasing ratman population just outside the village. Now the wyvern was gone, and the villagers were to now fend for themselves.

Veryo pondered his next move. He thought of what might be at the root of the wyvern’s senseless killings, for surely the wyvern would never have performed such vile acts without some outside force pulling it’s strings.

Isilmea, Patricia, Amy and Myriam arrived in the village to comfort Veryo. Patricia had suggested that perhaps dragons were the ones responsible for the wyvern’s corruption.

Destard, a dungeon infested with dragons, seemed to be the next logical place to check.

Aftering burying his fallen comrades, Gerad and Clyde, Veryo arranged to meet once more with Isilmea about traveling to the den where dragons sleep. Isilmea agreed to meet at a later date to discuss the matter...
