Vanya paced nervously in her garden. Edric, her most trusted guard and friend, was on his way. The loss of Beriadan weighed heavily on her shoulders and the task of being the guardian of Nu’jelm was one she was unable to fulfill any longer.

The past few months Vanya solely relied on Edric for all matters including trade agreements, guards and interactions with the regency. While he busily scurried around, Vanya spent a great deal of her time either in her garden or at the tomb of her dead husband. Old age, met with severe depression was now the cause of her deterioration.

She looked to Edric with a half smile as he walked into the garden. She was very proud of him, she imagined her son, had he lived, would have been a lot like Edric.

”Suilad mellonamin, tula sinome” she said as she motioned him to sit.

“Before you speak allow me to finish everything I must say. I have called you here for a reason. I am no longer fit to look after such a vast and flourishing city. I have not the capacity or the energy to do what must be done.”

His mouth opened slightly, but with one quick gentle look at him, he silenced himself.

”The past few months you have truly shown your loyalty. You are one of the most honorable elves I have ever met. I have complete trust in you, mellonamin, which is why I am passing off my duties to you. I will stay here with you in Nu’jelm and I will oversee and help with anything you may need.”

She placed her tiny hand on his arm to give him reassurance.

”Nu’jelm will be a better place with you as guardian. Cormlle naa tanya tel’raa”

She looked to him and stood up. Her hand left his arm as she began to walk away. She knew he would need time to process everything she had just said, so she would wait.

” Tenna’ ento lye omenta” she turned and said with a smile and then made her way back into the palace.
