Eye, clad in a monk's robe, entered the chamber without any difficulty, bowing before the guard standing in the doorway.

He found a place against the north wall and stood there quietly. Looking down, he noted that his black bone gloves were showing, and he quickly placed both hands inside the wide, deep, sleeves of his robe to conceal them, hoping no one had seen them.

He listened to the conversation... first the prayer by his intended victim followed by the usual call to order. A vote was taken and a new group of loyalists took their place among those of the Regency. None of that concerned him... he cared not a whit for any of it. Instead he kept his gaze fixed upon Bartholomew, sizing him up.

His master's name was dropped, and, as planned, Lord Spawn appeared out of the shadows, drawing all eyes to him. Guards rushed to surround him, demanding his surrender. His master just laughed and toyed with them. A glance from him, however, and Eye moved slowly from his place, around the table, next to the Regency Chaplain. He leaned to whisper to him. "Brother, you are in danger! He comes for you! Those of my order have learned of his plans. You must follow me from here quickly!"

The Chaplain, taken aback first by the belligerent display from Spawn and now hearing he would be his next victim, reluctantly and slowly rose from the table and followed Eye out the doorway. As all attention was focused on his Master, none seemed to even notice their exit.

They moved quickly to a nearby building, went inside and Eye barred the door. Keeping himself hidden behind his robe, he explained himself to the bewildered Chaplain. "Forgive me but I am of an order that serves the virtues. While we were assembled at a shrine, this man, Spawn, came and sought to desecrate it. My brothers tried to stop him but were all slain. He left muttering something about the Regency Chaplain. I came here tonight to warn you."

Bartholomew mumbled something but apparently was becoming suspicious nonetheless.

"We must move from here to a safer location! He will no doubt try to follow us to get you," he stated confidently, laying a rune book down on the ground. "The prime rune there will take us there," he said as the door began to shake.

The holy man cast a gate travel spell and both stepped through the portal...

...into a blinding snowstorm. Before he could speak, Eye, following him, struck him once, very hard on the head and he fell heavily into the snow.

Eye tied his hands quickly and dragged him into the Temple, chaining him to a damp wall in a darkened room. He removed all items from him that could be used for escape and went to wait for the return of his master who no doubt would be pleased that their plan had succeeded quite easily.
