Her stomach had a strong rumble as she grasped tightly. This was not new to her, unfortunately. She had, indeed, felt this pain before. The child kicked at her insides as she winced with pain.

Weeks ago, she told Beowulf the truth behind his curse. She held his ring tightly within her palm, almost taunting him. There was, and still is, no Love behind their relationship, only lies.

A harsh hand met her face as she slowly released the truth. She tolerated the beating, for it was obviously necessary for Beowulf to release his anger. She rather liked to be hit. It allowed her to suffer, to feel. It was rare that she felt. The slicing of her skin during battle or the strike of her face was, now, the only feeling left within her, except for the kicking of her child.

"I do not love you, nor will I ever." she spat.

She told him the truth, yet he still wanted her. She could feel his lips upon hers, just as she did that night. She clenched her eyes shut as she watched passed events unfold.

”Tear it up, Burn it.” she tested him. She asked him to burn the letter of his ex-wife, Tatiana. “I will kill her.” she pushed harder.

”She is under heavy guard, I would love to see you try.” he spat.

Their game continued, even with the truth spilled openly. Audrina had him right where she wanted him, as he had her comfortably where he wished her to be. As they lay together Beowulf began to speak, ”If you go after Tatiana, you will only anger my son. He is not an enemy you wish to keep. I expect you to be like a second mother to him”.

”I too, have a child.” she said.

”You killed your only child.”

”She died of an illness," she spoke coldly”Although, I would have killed her, had it been necessary. She was of Skyfire blood. That is not the point, I have another child. His name is Tay.”

”Who is the father?” Beowulf asked.

”I am not sure.” Audrina lied. She knew very well the real parents of her child.

"Harlot.” he laughed.

”I will treat Grigori as I would treat any of my own children, she laughed, but you must claim Tay as your own.” She demanded.

[i]”I will treat him well, but are you asking me to pretend to be his father?”

”Yes, you shall not wish your wife to look like a harlot!” she laughed again.

”It will take more than that for others to know you are no harlot, but I will lie for you.” he laughed and then harshly took her face. ”After all, this relationship has been built on lies, it would be unwise to not finish the foundation.” he hit her sharply and then turned over to sleep.

The bed was half empty when she awoke the next morning. Beowulf had not returned since that night. She held her hands over her stomach as a grin crossed her face. She held all of the means necessary to do with Beowulf as she pleased. She held the power within her stomach.

Audrina sat on the edge of her bed and looked around her freshly decorated bedroom. The inn no longer satisfied her needs, forcing Audrina to purchas a home. Small, yet comfortable, the house has just enough rooms to allow for her growing family. It is, after all, only a matter of days before Tay would be coming home, to Umbra, to live with his mother.

She placed her hands over her growing stomach and stared into the fireplace. The Matriarch demanded children. Umbra delivered.

”I want the curse reversed!” Beowulf demanded.

”Now, now. Calm down. Is it that terrible to have to love me?” she laughed, questioning him.

”It disgusts me that I love you.he spat.

”So be it. she said as she quickly reached for a quill and parchment. She sent a letter attached to a pigeon to Sywen, asking her to meet with them as soon as she could.

”Sywen is very punctual. I expect she will be here shortly. While we wait, I have news.” she said, sitting down next to Beowulf, only to watch him get up and move.
”Well, we are having two children. It seems your seeds are very fertile.” she laughed.

”Wonderful. Another child you can use to manipulate me.” he said as he paced.

”These children are the future of Umbra and we will not risk their well being. Therefore, we will not be reversing anything until they are born.” she snapped and then focused her attention to the knocking at the door.

She opened the door and welcomed Sywen. Beowulf shouted his demands and Audrina stifled her laughter. Sywen, though, remained very calm and composed.

”I will reverse the spell, if it is Audrina’s wish, but I expect payment.” she said.

”What kind of payment?” he asked her.

”One of your children, she looked to Audrina’s stomach, The second one to come out, dead or alive, will be mine. she smiled calmly.

”Fine.” Beowulf said.

”You know, reversing the spell will cause harm to the both of you. Spells are not easily reversed. Someone will pay dearly.” Sywen said.

They both nodded and with much talk came to an agreement. Sywen will deliver the babies and just as soon as they are delivered she will reverse the spell. Beowulf will have his wish. Within a matter of months his affections for Audrina would disappear. Silly Beowulf, he will always be bound to her as her husband, he made sure of that. Love, or lack of love, matters not.

Audrina walked passed Beowulf and made her way upstairs into the master bedroom. She could sense his anger and knew he would shortly be following. Lately, she did not know what to expect from him, so she made it simple and had no expectations. They spent the next few hours mainly arguing. He thought there was hope for them to fall in love, but she knew that was still the curse speaking. She wanted to unite and form a powerful alliance with him, use their marriage as most marriages were often used, as a form of politics. He wanted her demands to stop. She wanted to control him. Their minds were made up and both were tired with arguing. He swore to protect her home, as well as her and their children and with that, he left.

Such an odd arrangement, or so most would think, but really deep down, It is not very different from most other marriages. The only thing this marriage is lacking is the main ingredients for weaknesses: Love, Compassion, and Jealousy.
