I wanted to get some feedback before I start putting any work into this.
The Sanctus Invitational Tournament went very well, with a decent amount of participants. I would like to bump it up a notch and hold a tournament for the entire RP community. When I say RP community, I mean every person who considers themselves a RPer, not just ARPC, FAR, NAMBLA, MAAD, Scientologists, Screen Actors Guild, DAMM, etc etc.
Main events would be:
Joust
Single Combat
Melee
Optional Events:
Magery
Archery
Pet fights
Best location would be the Luna Bagball arena, as there is no setup required.
Who would be interested? Your feedback is appreciated. _________________ ~Lord Talon Skyfire

Sounds like fun. Let me know if I can help.
Another piece of advice... have a tourney stone for last minute entries that can't war everyone, or that everyone in the tourney has to join. If needed, I have spare characters that can hold the stone. _________________ Ken: I don't put anything in my mouth I don't intend on swallowing...

Have the event start a little earlier in the day. Heard the melee event didn't start till 11ish? Not positive though as I wasn't there. But a lot of people can't participate that late.
Maybe have a team tournement as well. Like 3v3, 4v4, or 5v5.
Other than that you guys always pull of pretty good tournys. So cheers to you.
Later,

Team Tournaments should be 2v2, as it would be hard getting the # of competitors to host anything else.
Magery, Archery, and Melee should be combined. There's rarely enough of each to hold a decent-size bracket.
Potions should be limited to 2 each per fight.
A stone wall drop should determine the start of a fight.
Pet Fights should allow your maximum capacity. IE: 5 slots. If someone wants to enter a white wyrm and a nightmare, they can. If someone wants to enter 5 frienzied ostards, they can. They also should not have to stick to the same pets for each match. They can switch.
All I can think about right now. _________________

All I will say is a lot of work was put into that tournament for it to be 100% changed at the last minute. If you want to hold a grand tournament for the entire shard you need to pick a day and time, STICK to that day and time and then stick to the rules you post.
Changing things last minute killed last night for me. _________________

Britain Fair grounds. Having an actual archery tourney on the archery targets would be cool _________________

Oh man, I'm flashing back to that Yew fair thingy when I went on Mithaniel. Even with 120 archery (which I had) you can't bullseye every time.... Yet I bullseyed once, and robin-hood bullseye'd the previous arrows nine times for a perfect ten shot score. It was awesome, everyone's jaw hit the floor, including mine. |

In response to Beleth:
The tournament had to be rescheduled several times due to unforseen circumstances (huge patch day, for instance).
As for the rules, you can blame that on me. No plan ever survives first contact...intact.
For the next tourney, we will endeavour to have all the details finalized well before-hand. _________________ ~Lord Talon Skyfire

Ya, I helped throw simple rules together to get the ball rolling, but for a grand tourny it should be set in stone and thought out carefully. (I can help if needed..) Also, perhaps announcing it on stratics would be a good idea? I just don't know how many "twinks" would try to be involved...make sure it sounds really rpish heh..
Also, I'm not sure if the Luna area would be too laggy? It should be ok..Sounds good. As for ashers idea of combining the categorys..I think the best bet would be mages/archers together and thats it. Pet fights can be their own thing...(I think that'd be a large event due to the fact many rpers have or are tamers..and can never participate in tournaments) |

Nah man, gotta have all the people fighting 1 on 1 in the same category. I've seen about 20+ tournaments go on in UO, and the ones that divide people up based on classes are the most boring _________________

Pet fights of course. I didn't say pet fights should be combined. I just gave my take on the rules. _________________
