Penny felt herself become restless during the last few months of the pregnancy. Her pacing of the manor slowly turned into walks outside. Each walk brought her a little closer to Umbra, though she never quite made it fully within the city limits. It felt as if it were forever since she had last seen her husband. She swore she could feel the bed move in the middle of the night next to her. Perhaps it was him joining her late in the evening, or perhaps it was her desire and want that made her mind play tricks on her. The symbol upon her belly, redden like a rash taunted her each time she gazed upon it. She could almost see it come to life, teasing her of her failure to her family and her children. It was during one of the restlness nights, she found her self walking aimlessly along the streets of Sanctus. The deafening silence was a comfort to her. All were in their beds, probably nestled against their loved ones. A pang was felt that seemed to coarse through her body. She stumbled slightly as it caught her off guard. Soon another would hit, then another each one worse than the one before. She could feel her toes trying to dig into the dirt with each one. Words softly escaped her lips into the wind, wishes of being at home. Before she knew it, all started to fade then went complete black.
After what seemed like an eternity had slipped passed her, she could hear sounds surrounding her. At first the words spoken made no sense, when another pain shot from her stomache down to her knees. It was then the cold crisp breeze cut through her like a dull knife cutting meat. Her eyes quickly opened to see she was no longer in Sanctus. The cold wet snow underneath her heated body was a welcome source of refreshment.
"One more push, m'lady and we will have him."
The words echoed in her ear when her body followed the command of the woman that was in between Penny's legs delievering her child. Her child?! The memories came full force overwhelming her as she cried out. The breeze settled, and the sounds of the wintery land silenced themselves as if anxiously awaiting for a sign. Penny could feel her heart and body tense, as the silence stabbed at her. Where was the..before the thought could be finished..the wonderful sound of her sons cries came to her like a sweet melody. The woman handed the child to his mother. Penny gazed upon him with a love in her heart and eyes.
"Jonathon, I knew you would be alright."
She says softly kissing the child's forehead. The ladies that had assisted her and smiled.
"tis not everyday we see a birth here on Caina."
The words just seemed to slip in one ear and out the other. Penny's eyes roamed the small form within her arms, ensuring every little finger and toe were in their proper places. It was then she saw the symbol...the same one that had taunted her throughout her pregnancy had branded itself upon her son. She quickly checked her abdomen to ensure it was the same one, but when she went to look, hers had disappeared. It was as if it were never there. Jonathon's cold nose against her heated skin brought her attention back upon the newest Mreal. The kind ladies build a makeshift shelter around Penny, letting her rest for the evening. Penny took the moment to enjoy her son and their time alone. She would bond with him as she had bonded with her other two. As the moon casted its first soft rays upon them, both mother and child found their destiny within the dreams.
