Lady Genna walked back to the Guildhouse with Neo after a long night.
She was deep in thought when she looked up and stood before the Temple.
She walked inside and bowing her head prayed that the Virtues would assist her in the work she was doing.
Lord Neo reached her side and she turned to him .
" I am afraid with all the work I have to do to get the Coronation in readiness I just do not have the time and energy to visit all the Nobles of the land. How I wish to be younger and filled with that vigor. Alas I must write and have these messages delivered by runners. Please, if you would Lord Neo, round up some young people and have them deliver this message to the Nobles of the land"

Lord Neo smiled knowingly as she spoke and then left to do what was needed.

Dear Noble Friend,

I apologize for not delivering this request and Invitation to your house in person. But with time restraints I am just not able.
On April Eleventh , there will be a Coronation in Yew. Queen Lilyth , has stepped down and given over the reign of Yew to the Duke and Duchess of Newcastle. The Lady Queen will be sorely missed but we must press on.

I would invite you and yours to witness the Coronation and to take part in the Royal Ball to be held afterwards. I would also request that you send a representative of your house , a Knight bearing your colors, to be apart of the Coronation Ceremony. I ask this of all Nobles for reasons of unity and peace.

Please send the young messenger back with your reply as to your attendance and if you will be sending a participant.

Had the messenger meant to enter DarkCove, or had he taken an unfortunate wrong turn didn't seem to matter.
Jujual, the old witch woman stopped the wagon a few feet from the Phoenix Knights' territory & grumbled on about the coming actions of her dark mistress leading to death.
Jhanna, the mute house servant, listened on, understanding only a few phrases of Jujual's broken common. It seemed to her that the old witch spoke often of death, bad luck, bad magic, and just seemed to think that everything was miserable. As she hopped off the wagon, she very much wished that she had been on other errands when this particular task was given to her.

Making a grimace, she helped the pessimistic old witch heave, pull, & shove until finally DarkCove's "gift" was off the wagon. She stood, staring with part fear and part sadness, over the body of the decapitated messenger boy. Alive, he had looked younger than her, maybe 12 or 13. His hand was still clenched in the possition it had been when Imryrr snatched the scroll from his death-grip to read it.

Jujual glanced a look at young Jhanna and cackled out a laugh. "Don't you be afeared for dat youngin. His suffering is done an gone. It's our suffering you should fear. We all gon' die. Just like dem dere light people. Dey all gon' die too."

Now, Jujual bent over the headless body to place a return scroll in the boy's hand, as per her instruction. It read simply:


Lady Genna,
Thank you for the invitation to the coronation of yet another Queen. I have no interest in attending such a festive display of grandure. However, I will be sending a present for the King and Queen to represent DarkCove at a later date.
Consider this a warning if you think to send another trespasser onto our doorstep.

With that, the old lady and the young mute, climbed back on the wagon and headed back to their cold and cruel homeland.

As Lady Genna rode through the woods ,on her rounds to keep back the creatures that plagued the area around the Phoenix Knights of Yew township, she came upon the bloody and headless body of a child.

As she dismounted her horse to take a closer look Cat Lyxen rode up . Cat jumped off of her horse and ran to kneel next to the body. She shook her head and slipped the paper from the cold hand . She handed the paper to Lady Genna and began to lay a cloth to take the body back to town.
Genna read the note and sighed.
" Cat , when we get back to town go to the temple and call the runners to you. Tell them they are not to enter any territory that would put them in harms way.
I will go to this young man's family and tell them the news of his death. " As Genna looks down at the body she sighs heavy with sadness ," All are to young to die but this was not a warrior. To kill a child...and just a messenger.. smells of cowardice and evil." Genna turned to Cat as she mounted her horse ," Cat , you will also stay away from this Dark Cove. If a child can be brutally murdered , you also would be in danger. I do not order you but ask that you take care."

Cat nodded as she loaded the little body atop her horse . Usually quite happy and carefree, Cat was not that today.

The day was filled with mourning and woe. Tomorrow the work for unity would go on.
