The new UI is impressive; people can whine about the slotted inventory, but its honestly probably a good thing.

I am however amused at their standard list of selling points: Customize your char, battle monsters, pvp, housing, crafting, community, running a business.... Running a business? Yep:

Just kinda struck me as amusing considering business in UO generally involves trade between real life wealth and game wealth, one way or the other or both (aka, buying gold for cash, selling gold for cash, or doing either based on whatever you have or need at the time), and moreso because of our recently conversation about duping and RL profit over exploits. Not that its an "LOL EA SUXXORZ" or "LOL KR SUXXORZ", but I just got a chuckle out of the timing.

Another amusement is this comparison right here:

I like how they replaced the empty black void with some kind of graphical background, but whats with the loss of the effect that the center is filled with blood? Did they actually lose some of their decorative tricks to the conversion to KR and not fix them?

Oh well. All in all it was TERRIBLY needed. I reserve full judgement till after we see the list of bugs and crashes, and more importantly, how quickly they are fixed.

The KR site mentions that they have not yet finished all of the artwork, or all of the effects. They made mention of not having etheral artwork done yet at the time of the screenshots as well, so it probably is (most likely) just a case of not finishing the effects and art at the release of those screenshots.

that'd explain it then. we've all seen too much of EA forgetting things for 5+ years to blindly believe they'll fix everything in the first week, so i assumed Very Happy
