Beowulfs hand held the chisel steady, gently tapping on it to break a piece of blackrock off. He picked it up, admirring the stone. The bags beneath his eyes seemed to be heavier each day due to a lack of sleep. Ever since he started his experiments he could hear the voices. Now the blackrock spoke more literally to him.
"Moonglow has stood by Umbra while they have plurged innocent people. They slayed a man, a paladin at that, in Luna. You fought to protect them!"
"No..no Fong was injured, I fought to save him!" Beowulf argued the voice.
"Moonglowians and Umbrians have scouted the streets of Sanctus, killing those that they've seen"
"Its a time of war."
"Against all of Sanctus? Face it...The beautiful Island of Moonglow has been tainted. Umbra has spread a seed of evil among them."
Beowulf began to listen and argued less.
"They took Nu'jelm from you."
"No..no they didn't! We decided on it together!" Beowulf growled back.
"Face it, even if you argued it wouldn't have mattered. Umbra has tainted Moonglow. They don't care about you. Your just a pawn in a large pool of life."
"I won't let you control me like you did Spawn."
"We didn't control Spawn. He merely lost his mind, he was weak. He seeked power that he was unable to handle. You, Beowulf, only seek knowledge and wisdom."
Beowulf's eyes closed a bit and he nodded to himself. Somewhere inside him he couldn't understand why he began to have distaste for those who were so close to him. But something closer to the surfice made it all make sence. He nodded to himself.
"Vas Kal An Mani In Corp Hur Tym!" Beowulf bellowed out, unexpectantly.
The ground shook and he could feel the pressure against his body. A chunk of blackrock bursted around him, shattering the mirror to his right. He held out his hands and looked himself over. Not as much damage this time...He was growing stronger, and wiser. |
