"Tell me where my brother is old man and I'll let you live.!!" shouted Gideon as he drove a dagger into the other mans second should pinning him against the wall. The old man goaned in pain and shook his head refusing to give up his secrets. Anger over took Gideon at this point and with a fury Gideon drew his blade and with one swift motion took the old mans head off. He then bent down and picked the head up and laid it on the table. Turning around he made his way to the door and out into the Streets of Vesper. Angery with himself he slammed the door behind him.
Two years it had been since his goddess had given him orders to find his younger brother and make a blood offering by killing his only sibling. Gideon had tracked his brothers last known wereabouts to the City of Vesper and to a Smithy shop. He had thought his mission would be completed tonight and he be rewarded the power he so deserved afterall what was his pure human blood brother to him anyways. He didnt expect the man not to tell though after all that torture but the smithy had held true. Turning the corner that led to a bridge out of town Gideon began to wander what he was to due next. Crossing the bridge he spoted an Inn on the Outskirts of Town deciding it would be a good time to rest he went inside and purchased a room.
Once inside his room he took his cloak and boots off and laid them by the bed. He then knelt and said a slient pray to his goddess. Gideon then got into bed and closed his eyes. Sleep that night did not come easy but an answer did in a form of one word spoken to him by his goddess that one word was Umbra..he would find out what to do next in Umbra... |

Two days had passed since the night in Vesper when the dream sent by his goddess came to Gideon. He now found himself in Umbra and awaiting to learn what the next step would be. Looking around the city Gideon could feel the power that was surrounding it he felt almost as if he was home. There was something about this place he couldnt put a finger one but was now deretmined to find out, taking a deep breath he made his way to the bank. Passing a few buildings on the way he noticed something else about the City, it was very quiet. Once at the bank he approached the minter and paid for a bank box to put his things in. Once done he handed the minter the box back and a few coins to keep his things safe for the rest of the week. He then asked the mintor a question.
"Who rules in Umbra?" he asked the minter. The minter looked around nervously at first then spoke one name. "That be Matriarch Ceinwyn ab'Arawn m'lord." the minter said then ran off to attend his other duties. Gideon stood there a moment pondering the information he had learned. "Have I heard that name before? It seem awful familiar." He thought to himself as he finally turned and made his way towards the Inn in town. Once at the Inn he paid the inn keeper enough gold to last a week and then went to his room once there he sat down at the table near the bed and began to write a letter..
To Matriarch Ceinwyn ab'Arawn,
Greetings m'lady arrived in you grand city and plan to stay for awhile. I wish to learn more about Umbra and its history and hear you are the one that rules in the City. If that be so perhaps if you have time to take away from your many duties as a ruler you would honor this humble servent and show me around your great City and its surrounding terrorities..If so I can be found at the Inn where the innkeeper who delievered this message works. I await your reply with eagerness till we meet or till your reply walk in the darkness of the mother.
Signed,
Gideon Caine
After rolling up the letter and tying a dark purple ribbon to it Gideon made his way back out to the Innkeeper desk and handed the man the letter and a bag full of coins along with instructions on who to deliever it to then made his way back to his room. He then took off his robe and his boots and knelt down beside the bed to pray once done he got up and began to get ready for bed. "Perhaps the answer will come in my dreams but till then what is to say I cant cause alittle chaos of my own," he thought to himself as he laid down and went to sleep. |
