Sanctus Fair
As Directed by my Lord and King, the Sanctus Fair will be an event held on December 16th at the 8th hour after the high noon sun. Meet in front of the Hostel to sign up (sign up begins at 7:45pm and closes at 8:20pm . It is during the times of Joust that Champions were made and the peoples favorite knight would be cheered on. So come and support your champions of chivalry. All events will take place at the Sanctus Colosseum. Located Southwest of the Hostel.
Melee Scheduled for 8:30pm Dec 16th
Hosted by Lord Chancellor Poshe
(Note: Open to commoners and nobles alike)
There will be two events. The first will be a Melee competition. This is an open competition and anyone may participate for a fee of 5,000gp per participant (no refunds). Winner takes all and earns the right to participate in the Joust (Regardless if they are a noble or not). A melee competition pits dismounted fighters against one another. In the medieval days, competitions of this nature often showed nobles the skill of the common man and those who showed promise would be taken in as Squires or hired as local guards. To many, this would be very appealing, as such was a way many became knights, the lowest form of Nobility.
Conditions of Participation: (Melee)
1) Each participant must be guilded and able to war all participating guilds. If you are unable to war, you may join Sanctus temporarily for this event.
2) Each participant must wear the following: GM Quality (non-runic) Plate Armor (Any color is allowed) along with a tunic and cloak hued to the colors of their guild. A Helm must be included. These articles of clothing are mandatory and nothing may cover them. The use of robes is forbidden.
3) Each participant must supply up to a maximum of three weapons of GM quality (non-runic). Shields are optional but must also be of GM quality. Participants may switch weapons during combat if they prefer.
4) Magic is forbidden. Healing by bandage is allowed. (Limit of 20 bandages per battle)
5) No Mounts of any kind.
6) Jewelry is permitted
Rules of Engagement:
Each participant will fight as an individual. Each round will have two participants facing off. Winner advances to the next round. The defeated is eliminated. The winner of this event is granted rights to participate in the Joust, even if they are not of noble blood.
Nobility – Defined as landholders with titles and rulership. For this event, Nobility will be governed by titles and rulership. If you are a recognized noble (someone with the title of Knight or above) you will be granted permission to participate in the Joust. If you are not a recognized noble (you may have the title, but not the recognition) you may be asked to prove your claims and have at least 4 nobles vouch for you before you may participate.
Joust Scheduled for 15 minutes after the Melee event Dec 16th
Hosted by Lord Commander Orion
(Note: this event is limited to Nobles only)
The Second event is the Joust itself. Entry is 10,000gp with the winner taking home the purse (note, Winner of the Melee is exempt from paying the entry fee). In the Medieval days, Joust were often the main event of a fair pitting the kingdom’s best against a neighboring kingdom’s best. Often this was a means of bragging but much of these events were limited to the noble class.
1) Each participant must be guilded and able to war all participating guilds. Can always join Sanctus if unable to war as a temporay solution.
2) Each participant must have Knight, or some Noble title of sorts. (Silly as it may seem, it is a noble event and all participants must have some nobility to participate. Only exception is the winner of the Melee)
3) Each participant must wear the following: GM Quality (non-runic) Plate Armor (Any color is allowed) along with a cloak hued to the colors of their guild or kingdom. A Helm must be included for this event. Robes are prohibited
4) Each participant must supply a Luna Lance and a GM quality shield (Metal styled shields are preferred) Luna Lances will be provided on loan to those nobles who lack one.
5) Each participant must supply his or her own horse (Charger mounts are acceptable due to them looking like an armored horse). Nightmares and faction horses are NOT allowed due to the possibility of them being attacked, going wild or looking odd in color. All other mounts are prohibited, this includes ethereal mounts. (We are trying to base this with a theme of your basic horse)
6) Jewelry is allowed, as there really isn’t a way to enforce them.
Rules of Engagement: (Dismount only)
The host will ensure that both riders are prepared and ready for the joust. Each rider, when given the go command, must put their horse into full gallop and charge into their opponent. Riders who walk their mounts will be given a warning and any dismount that happens from such will be voided. After the warning is given, if they walk their mount again, they WILL BE disqualified from the tournament.
The riders will be given three attempts to dismount their opponent. Best two out of three attempts wins that portion of the tournament. Winner will advance and the defeated will be eliminated.
In the event that three rounds should take place and neither rider has dismounted the other, the round continues until one dismounts the other. Should one be dismounted in this manner, they are eliminated. If both should be dismounted in this manner or at anytime during the round, then both shall continue into full contact combat, regardless how many rounds are left. See Below for more details.
It is customary for each jouster to have an aide (dressed in the same manner as the rider only no armor) on the sidelines carrying extra armor, shields and weapons that would fit within qualifications. When full contact took place, each knight would hurry to their aide, Drop thier lance and call out for a weapon and engage in combat. Neither combatant is allowed to mount up on a horse until the combat has finished with a clear and decisive winner. Attacking a Horse is considered poor sportsmanship and is grounds for disqualification. knights who have done so have often been banished from their Kingdom and stripped of their title.
Rules of Engagement: (Full Contact)
1) Any style weapon may be used as long as it is of classical design (No cleavers, pitchforks, Scythes and the like. We are looking for traditional weapons)
2) Weapons must be of GM quality (non-runic)
3) Only 10 bandages are allowed per engagement. (We will be counting heals).
4) Full Contact ends when one participant yields or is defeated in combat.
If the case happens where both riders dismount the other, they may both return to their aides and equip a weapon of choice before engaging in combat. Both Combatants must wait for the “GO” command to commence combat.
Winner of the Joust will take home the purse (all the entry fees collected for the event) and in the case of the Melee Champion, should they be the winner, the rank of Knight.
This event is open to both ARPC and FAR guilds. |
