Morus returned home after spreading the news of the new addition to the clan, Toni was asleep in bed so Morus sat in his chair by the window and gazed out at the sky. “Look how far life has taken me?” He thought to himself smiling. He thought back to when he was a young lad and his clan was strong, he lived in the harsh mountains north of Brittan with his kin and clansmen. He remembered his father teaching him to hunt as his father taught him; his first kill was a great hind. Morus remembered the look the creature gave him before he ended its life and how he hesitated to finish the kill and his father talking him through it, yet after the deed was done disciplining him for his hesitation. He remembered the nights around the clan fire drinking and fighting for his place in the clan. Morus turned back to his sleeping wife as she stirred in her sleep, he walked over to her side to check on her, moved the hair from her face and gently kissed her forehead so not to wake her. Toni smiled in her sleep and settled again Morus went back to his window seat.
How he loved this sleeping beauty she had changed his life had made him a better man, how many countless nights had he lay awake smiling watching her sleep in his arms, imagining the life he wanted to provide for her and secretly hoping he was not failing her. He had been very closed off lately and he only hoped she forgave him for it. How many arguments had they had as of late over the smallest of details? Yes in part it may have been the twisting turning ride her emotions were taking her on with the pregnancy, but a big part of the problem was himself and Morus knew it. He had changed, he was not the same man and she had been the one to help him change, she believed in him and gave him the strength to tear away the walls he had built up, had forced him to face his inner warrior and embrace it, and in turn he had hidden from her. Morus stopped half way back to his chair and turn back to his sleeping wife and smiled. Such a fool he had been, and still there she was by his side her support unwavering her love unending. He continued back to his seat and went back to gazing at the sky.
Again his thoughts swirled and he clutched his fathers sash as he remembered the great battle that took his fathers life. Morus let the battle play out in his head, the shaking of the ground as Orc and Clansmen charged each other, the screams of his clansmen, the clanging of weapons and shields, the explosions of spells and then silence…Morus remembered thinking himself dead trying to will himself to move to open his eyes. He had been clubbed on the back of the head and rendered unconscious. When he came to, the battle was over, he lay under the corpse of an Orc and a Clansmen he pushed them off of him and slowly got to his feet to survey the scene. Blood ran free upon the ground; everywhere he looked lay the dead or dying. Morus stopped, for there not ten feet from where he lay unconscious, lay his father. Morus ran to him and knelt down beside him, he went to remove the dagger form his fathers chest. “No lad my days are over now is your time carry on the clan name me boy.” “I will father I swear it.”
Tears were streaming form Morus’ eyes as he sat looking at the sky. The memory of his father was one he had hidden deep within him never had he spoken of him to any of his friends or even his wife. Morus looked again to the sky. Snow clouds were blowing in, after all it was the winter season. The sight of the clouds rolling across the sky turned Morus’ thought to his times in Stormhaven. The day he joined Stormhaven was one much like today. The wind was cold and was blowing in the snow clouds. He was out hunting in the woods of Britain and happened across the great Citadel it was bustling with activity, Knights were patrolling, squires were training. The man in charge of training stopped Morus “You there. You look like a capable warrior, do you fight for the virtues?” Morus stopped and studied the man for a moment. He had never considered himself a warrior of virtue, he had only fought for survival. The man asked him to join him inside for a bit to eat and some conversation, Morus accepted the invitation for food but not being one for conversation he simply nodded to answer any questions he was asked. Through the conversation Morus learned of the Stormguards and of there battles with the Orc when asked if he would like to call the place home he was more than happy to accept if only to have a chance to get his hands on the Orc.
So Morus began his training as a Squire and he quickly rouse through the ranks, his skill with his hammer was almost unmatched he fought in many tournaments and training matches, his new friends always commenting on his shirtless fighting style. Morus eventually was asked to join the Order of the Warders of Stormhaven, its one mission to safeguard the royal family and keep them from harm. Morus poured his heart into his roll. Then came the fateful day when he failed in his duty the eldest heir to the throne was killed by Orc. Something that stays with him to this day, he has always blamed himself even though many said it was not his doing. After the great divide of Stormhaven. Morus was torn. Would he follow his King and his friends or would he stay and do his duty to protect Stormhaven. Morus choose to remain behind. He became First Knight and lead the remaining Stormguard against all foe.
Then came the day that changed everything His queen was leaving for a different realm and he was made King of Stormhaven in her absence. Morus did what he could to bring the Kingdom back to glory but seemed to fail at every turn. He met a young woman Dark Desire was her name and for the first time he fell in love and felt content once again but the troubles in the kingdom were taking their toll on him. It was before his wedding to Desire that he went into exile forsaking his Kingdom his friends and his first true love......
