Silent Poet sat at his desk in his personal room at the Garden. He had spent the last several hours, sober and deep in research.

There was a sound tickling at the edges of his mind, when this large Dragonfly came buzzing into the room. Poet held out his hand and the Dragonfly landed on his palm and started bowing repeatedly.

Poet sighed as he attempted to bow back to the Dragonfly while removing the message cylinder attached to its leg. He slowly withdrew the ricepaper message and read:

"Poet-san, the Beast Demon who stole your journal pages, does not reside in one of the abandoned buildings near Mistas as you thought. I have recovered your journal pages and am riding from Ilshenar back to the Garden."

Silent Poet scratched his head and almost dislodges his bonnet. He puts away the ancient texts and maps he has been studying, along with his writing tools and paper and goes down to the tavern area to await Tai.

Having nothing better to do while waiting, Poet has restocked the free drink basket with ale for all the lightweight drinkers, wine for any with more delicate tastes, sake for Tai, whiskey for Doc Holiday and the more serious drinkers, and single malt scotch for himself. He also puts in several trays of "Better Than Sin" cookies for Cat and Alessandra, and whomever else likes cookies.

Tai Kwan Leap arrives just as Silent Poet finishes his restocking.

They spend the next half hour bowing to each other before Tai finally gives Poet the journal pages.

He reads over them carefully, they are singed and burnt and smeared with blood. From what he can read it seems they have been looking in the wrong place all along for the Demon Beast with a thirst for memories. The only things he can make out for sure are these:

The Demon has taken up residence at the center of the Hedge Maze in the abandoned farmhouse.

If the Demon is not killed, he will use the memory engergies he has stolen from all that were afflicted with the memory loss to perform a ritual that will erase the very existence of all who have been affected.

Silent Poet quaffs some hangover cure, and dons his hunting armor.

"Tai?"

"Hai, Poet-san?"

"I must go find this demon and stop him."

"Poet-san, you cannot do this alone."

"Tai, this is my fault that so many are in danger."

"Poet-san, you cannot do this alone."

"Tai, this is a matter of personal pride."

"Poet-san, you cannot do this alone."

"Tai, look a seagull is flying outside the window."

When Tai turns to look, Silent Poet chants "Kal Ort Por" and is gone.
