Stepping thru the portal to the Courthouse and heading up the stairs, Tika could still hear several as they made reports and walked around inside. They had received the news at the Royal Court of Light meeting that the wanted criminal Vash was near and had attacked several people attempting to come to the meeting. Her husband had dispatched his men quickly and had followed them after saying his apologies to the Court. They heard of the capture just after the meeting had adjourned. Tika made her way to his office carrying a small basket with some cheese, meat and bread knowing it would be a long night for him. Not finding him in his office, she set the basket down on the chair next to her and took out her book to read. She heard Spawn come thru the side door into the evidence room and smiled. She congratulated him as he came thru behind her and moved to his seat, his back to her. His reply was a loud groan of pain. Concerned , she got up and turned his chair to see him holding his left shoulder. Blood was seeping thru where he had tried to cover the injury with bandaging temporarily. She carefully moved his hand and lifted his armor to finds a deep gash into his shoulder. Feeling almost faint , she bade him not to move and ran from the room calling for help. Lord Malic heard her cries and came quickly to assist her. Looking at the wound , which was openly bleeding now, he said he would do his best to stop the bleeding. He called upon all his powers of healing to get the wound to stop the bleeding. Examining the wound closer, he agreed he should have it looked at , the wound was deep and would need to be cleaned and bandaged. Tika agreed and went to get some cloth and warm water to cleanse it so she could temporarily bandage it. A small commotion outside the door called for Malic's attention. He excused himself from Spawn's office. She began to cleanse around the wound and he yelled out as the antiseptic hit the wound.

" I am sorry love, this will sting a bit." she said quietly
He nodded to her looking to his lap. " You must think me weak, allowing him to get this strike in."
She looked at him surprised , " Hardly weak. I think you are brave and very strong. You went all this time with this injury and this pain and said not a word. If anyone is weak .. it is me. Seeing you hurt.... all the blood.. your blood..." she stopped , her voice becoming shaky. He reached up with his good arm and squeezed her hand.

The door to his office flew open and Malic came in apologizing. "M'lord, I must report, I have a prisoner in the jail."
"Aye, you did well, Vash is in the jail" Spawn replied to him " Good work"
"Nay M'Lord, it is not Vash I speak of . I have placed Lord Gailan under arrest for assault and attempted murder of a child."
Both Tika and Spawn glanced at him in surprise " Lord Gailan ??" they said in unison.
The sudden commotion of voices outside interrupted the conversation. Tika walked around to close the office door so the men could speak. She let the crowd know the men would release a statement once they had the situation under control. Turning back and closing the door, she found the men had slipped thru the evidence room to the jail. Soon Spawn returned to his office and having spoken to the father and child discovered the misunderstanding. No charges were filed against Lord Gailan.
As they exited his office Spawn let out a long drawn breath, looking very pale and in obvious pain. He had thrown his armor back over the wound and reopened it.
" Time to go home love" Tika bade him " We need to tend to this wound, your men will tend to the prisoner."
Unable to speak, he nodded his head in agreement and soon they stepped thru the portal to home. She got him settled and carefully removed the armor again. Blotting the wound gently she examined it and took note it would require a few stitches. Stepping into the other room to get the needed supplies, Tika took a moment to compose herself, falling apart now did neither of them any good. There was time for that once he was tended to and resting. Composed and mind set to get thru this with him, she set the supplies out and readied them. She warned him the cleaning would sting. He clenched his jaws and made barely a sound. Then she applied a bandage soaked in herbals that would cause a cooling and numbing effect to the wound. He let out an audible sigh as the medicine quickly took effect, but she warned him it would not numb out the needle, just take a small edge off the pain. She began the stitching, five stitches in all. Through it all he clenched and unclenched his jaw, and gripped the sheets tightly but barely made a sound. Each stitch sent a shot of pain thru her knowing she was hurting him even in helping him. Once the stitches were in she placed another bandage soaked in the numbing medicine over the wound, allowing it time to soak in before replacing it with a dry bandage and wrapping his shoulder. The task completed, she quickly cleaned up the supplies and replaced them with soap and water to clean his arm and hands where the blood had dried over them. Wiping his face off , she leaned in and kissed his cheek.
"You are the bravest, strongest man I know" she told him and he laughed
" That hurt like hell" he said " I cannot believe he got that hit on me."
" Well , none of us are invincible" she joked " even if you think you are!"
He moved slightly and groaned as pain went thru his shoulder. " You are so right love.."
" Rest for you, you will need to take it easy with that shoulder 'til it heals" she said as she adjusted his pillows beneath him. He nodded his agreement and promised to rest. She went to put up the washbasin and dragged a chair and her sewing kit back to repair his armor. She settled in and began to repair his armor as the days pain took its toll on him and he drifted off to sleep. Getting up quietly, she pulled the warm blanket up over him and gave him a gentle kiss. Reaching over she lowered the lantern at his bedside and then doused the others. Returning to her chair, she listened to his even breathing as he slept and allowed herself a silent cry.
