"What a strange world it is outside of Ilshenar."

This had become Shalish's most common thought. Since the attack of the savages and Juka's, Shalish was the only surviving member of his tribe and knew that Ilshenar was no longer safe for him by himself. With more than a little fear in his mind he ventured through the moongates his people had deemed as dangerous, for strange folk and creatures would come through them. But Shalish was a Mo'Gur, title given to those unusually perceptive of the world around them and reasoned, if someone can come out, someone can go in.

His first night in Sosaria was rather frightful, not that the monsters or animals were anything different than his home of Ilshenar, but the people wearing such odd clothing and not a one carried a medicine bag marking their sacred totem guardian. As he slept beneath a tree a vision came to him of a man who took many shapes and would be able to speak the names of the totems. He would travel with one who was full of humor and flame.

The next day he met Asher Tyven and Sirius Atwight in Haven. The rest had been a blurr, swept up by the vision and how welcoming the pair was, Shalish joined their clan they called The Legion of Justice and was shocked at how non of his new clan mates knew their Sacred animals. He understood Justice, it was nature's most basic idea, and it would be an injustice to not find his new clan mates their totem animal.


The first journey he named Kali, The hunter, totem of the wolf, and Brianha, The watcher, Totem of the owl. Though he second journey on the sacred hunt, teaching Asher how to speak the totems, they were joined by a wandering duelist named Dan, who are first seemed to think the journey a novelty.

Shalish was awed by Mave Gerhart's sense of honor and how much he questioned the fighting the bear, and more astonished when the spirits answered Mave's call for honor and sent him a true guardian to battle, Mave seemed to feel more justified after battling the glorious golden bear. Alessandra displayed such a large amount of compassion and love when she answered her questions and paid deep respect to the bear she fought. Dan seemed awed once the fire was started and they drank of the ritual wine.



Dan revealed within himself the totem guardian of the combatitive Lion, protective of its loved ones, but eager for battle. Alessandra, caring, compassionate, accepting and loving of all, bore the spirit of the Elephant, the great mother and caretaker. Then Mave, with his overwhelming sense of honor, and being clearly shown a sign by the spirits when he battled the true guardian bear, gained the totem spirit of the Great Bear, the protector, honorable and strong.


That night after he gifted them their names and medicine bags he pondered on his new clan and what future awaited him. He decided upon on thing before sleeping, though these people acted different and spoke oddly, their hearts were deep and true to the animal spirits.
