Dan had never really dealt with spirits much before in his past, he had only heard stories of them in the local taverns and such. Nothing important, nothing unusual to him, because to him it was simply another idea of how to look in the world through that whom would dwell within nature and nothing more.

However, this evening was different, because this evening he had come face to face with spirits and nature. Before he realized what he had stepped into, he had come to sit in a circle with, as far as he knew, were nothing more but mere acquaintances to him and only that. Still though, his idealogy that evening was out of the picture, his own perspective put away in replacement of an open mind and wide eyes peering deep in the fire of a ritual. As the man next to him spoke to each of them with questions for each, Dan wondered to himself how something so simple as a test for identity could bring about the some of the most important of company along for the adventure.

"Perhaps truly, the greatest thing that we all wish to learn is more of ourselves..", thought Dan to himself as he gazed up at the stars for a moment. Nature, at that moment, seemed very overwhelming to the young duelist. All around, yet never still, it was perhaps the most beautiful form of Chaos that his eyes had ever seen. Maybe there was something inside of him that connected with it all, something inside of him that connected to these forms of Chaos in this world from which he lived in the compelled him to follow his own path to fight and wander as he did.

As time went on, and the ritual was complete, Dan walked down a path back to a small sacred pool from which he had visited during the spiritual journey. As he neared the location, he tightly gripped the medicine pouch that was given to him, a memento of his spiritual standing. Stepping close to the sacred waters which had cleansed him from the guilt of slaying a bear, he stepped around the shrine in stride and kneeled down to the spot where he had begun the phase of the ritual. Placing the meat and trimmed hide of the slain bear in front of him, Dan found himself doing something that he did not think he would ever find himself doing.

He prayed.

"May this beast's remains nourish it of whatever spiritual pain it may feel...", he muttered to himself, and in his mind, just for a moment, he actually imagined a spectral image of a lion sitting behind him, proudly.
