Blackrock is a stone that blocks the flow of the ether. It is almost impossible to work with.
In the original Ultima Saga, the "GUARDIAN"s follower build a black moongate out of Blackrock to allow him entrance to Britannia. _________________ Reality, the refuge of those who fail in RPGs

There was a blackrock moongate. We destroyed it though. _________________

Well we broke the blackrock moongate. There are blackrock pieces of all shapes and sizes, probably about 30-40 per server (12 that fell on the ground, another 6~ went to the top damagers, multiplied by tram and fel). They made it pretty clear that blackrock is dangerous, yadda yadda, and they probably wouldn't have gone out of their way to mention that unless something can be done with it later, but at the same time, I don't expect them to more or less recall quest drops that they gave out. if the blackrock is needed to save atlantic later, then the server is doomed, for everyone will keep them on display and nobody'll sacrifice their 1337 3b4y l3wt for a silly quest, since it doesn't guarantee more 1337 3b4y l3wt.
And, before anyone is a smartass and tells me I couldn't possibly know how many pieces dropped per server, I asked Draconi on IRC, and he told me that it wasn't the 48 that I had estimated (12 on the ground, 12 in packs for top damagers times tram and fel) and that it was less than that. |

If any were dropped in my pack at that time I was dead and did not bother to try and get to my body since I had nothing on there. So there's a potential for some on this shard to be lost right there |

Well that pisses me off. Finally, after Steel literally spends his last few breaths looking for this, and finally dies having failed to find it...
...it drops out of the sky. Almost literally.

Actually, we worked rather hard for it, it didn't fall out of the sky. And even then, I think its out of your price range unless you ebay, or unless you stop getting hacked all the time :B |

Well, I can agree with Steel... it does really suck. I mean, as soon as I leave a quest artifact which was importaint to my character IC immediately develops. It's... annoying. |

I agree as well. My point was that storyline/EM quest rewards and honestly, most rares in game that have to be acquired at the source or via buying them from twinks, are completely detatched from roleplay. None of Zog got any blackrock, even though they play. It was the middle of the night and no warning and no idea that we were even getting blackrock. So, even if you both HAD been playing UO, chances are you'd be one of the 5000+ players of atlantic that did NOT get blackrock, instead of one of the lucky dozen that DID get blackrock.
I know all three of us that got it; Vaen, Admoreth and I, all plan to, or already have incorporated it into our roleplay. But that was by chance, nothing else. |
