She sat quietly on her balcony, looking out into the darkness. The moon above her illuminated the night in as if in a silent vigil. Her nightmares have steadily grown worse. Not even the comfort of being near Kel or held in his arms gave her reprise from the abyss she felt she was falling into.

They haunted her to the point where she thought she heard footsteps and would see nothing. Closing her eyes the pounding of hooves rang in her head. They were coming for her...deep down she knew it was no dream. It was a vision.

All she could do was ask herself, "Why her? What does she possess that they would want? She paled when she though back further focusing on the details of her dream. Another man was there with her and he too was taken. Why both of them? Who was he?"

She felt Jode stir when that thought came into her head. The fear of the unkown gripped at ther depths of her soul. As a tear slid down her cheek and terror made her heart sink. She qietly whispered into the cool night air, "Jode what have you brought upon me?"

Sitting cross-legged within her mind, Jode began to notice the growing darkness around him, due to the recent nightmares that the two of them had been having. "Surely the aftereffect of these dreams...", he thought to himself, and then stood up from where he had sat, gazing down into the large orb before him, watching the visions.

Jode saw an arm come and wipe the cheek just below the view, then looked on as the arm came into his sight. "a tear...", he said to himself, and but before such thoughts of sympathy could stir within him a sudden surge of power burst into his psyche! Startled, Jode took a few steps back to recognize whatever may had created such, but slowly the surge of loud noises softened in his mind, to the point where the only thing he could hear was the faint breathing of a man.

"Jode Bonewits...", he heard before him, but before Jode could answer the voice continued onward. "...I have finally found you." Jode, slightly awed by the sheer form of control of the pyschic channel brought around him, he quickly recovered his balance and assumed a firm, stern pose so that whatever had found him, would see him strong. "...who are you?", asked Jode in his own mind, but no answer came to him. Instead, the same voice called out for his name once more. "Jode Bonewits", said the voice, slightly louder than before, and before Jode's eyes came the face of darkness before him. Only then did he realize that this was not in his own mind, it was in Ishtar's! Taking that into consideration, he blinked and squinted his eyes at the new image that had materialized before his eyes...

It was finally time for Jode to speak his voice within Ishtar's mind, but the concequences of this action, so he thought, may very well jeapordize his haven within this priestess's mind.

However, with his form gradually fading into nothing but the pure energy that has created him through Dan's psyche, Oblivion, he knew that time was not on his side, and with that thought in mind he knew that it was finally time to begin his struggle...

Looking up to the image before him, he calmly spoke his reply...

"...yes?"

"Jode...I have found you" Inkari chuckled. "You my friend have been a very very very hard man to track down...and you well...you are indeed worth the search." Inkari spoke in a cool collected manner. Jode looked unwilliing to acknowledge how the man before him had entered Ishtar's mind. Instead he just noded and stated "This is my haven, what bring's you here sir?...and your name please? I prefer to know the name of those who know mine" Jode stated softly and gathered his thoughts.

"Oh excuse me, my name's Inkari Northwind" Inkari spoke with a slow reply. "I have come to take you with me Jode, a man of your talents and point of view...has many assets The Riders could use." Inkari began to move forward.

"Sir Northwind...I have no point in leaving here other than having my place of peace restored, now please ... would you leave" Jode stated. "You dont have a choice, Jode I am very sorry in the matter." Inkari said. "Oh really?" Jode said gathering his power and began to move forward rather quickly.

"Sir Jode we are outside of her house now." Inkari said and smiled lightly. "Her house?...Ishtar!" Jode yelled!

"Now...run" Inkari said and vanished.

Kel startled her when he wiped her cheek. "My love come inside. It is getting cold and you need your rest. I am getting worried about your lack of sleep." he gently spoke to her. She took his hand and rose from the bench to follow him inside to her chambers. Quietly she changed into a linen shift for bed and then cuddled next to him.

In his arms she closed her eyes, trying to sleep. Then a voice startled her when she was on the brink of drifting off..."Jode?" she whispered. He was talking but it did not appear to her.

She paled and got out of bed abruptly. Frantically she removed the shift tearing it as it his the cool tiles of the floor. She fumbled donning her magical armor and packing a bag with the appropriate commodities. The fear made her stop when she heard Jode speak again and made her heart pound in her chest. When is subsides she made her way to her desk where she scribbled a note for Kel and left it on the pillow.

Kel,

My love, I am sorry to leave so abruptly. There are things that are happening that I fear deeply. I love you very much and I will return to you as soon as I am able.

Yours,
Ishtar

She quickly gave him a kiss on the cheek and felt her heart sink as she closed her chamber door behind her, she was not sure if she would see him again.

In a rush she ran down the palace stairs as she approached the main door she heard a commotion outside. The Medjie and guards were scrambling about. Something was going on. She took a peak outside and saw riders in dark garb. Looking about in a panic she whispered an incantation and appeared at the crossroads not to far from the palace.

Summoning her mount, she rode hard to Skara to charter a ship. Her mind raced with terror and urgency, she silently whispered a prayer to Ra hoping it was not too late...

Shouting orders to the guards and other Medjie she made sure the palace was secure. The thundering of the hooves grew louder as the riders approached. A servant came up to her and told her, "my lady none of the royal family are here. Lord Kel is asleep in the High Priestess' chambers." He bowed after relaying the message and went back to his duties of securing the palace.

With a nod she watched the servant scurry off and told him to secure Lady Ishtar's chamber door as he hurried about.

As she scanned the palace's main enterance the magic wards were still in place and all of the guards were at their posts. Whoever these riders were they were enough to make the Priestess flee. That did not sit well with the head of the royal guard at all. She thought to herself, something is very wrong here."

With a deep breath she secured her armor and placed her hand on her sword as she made her way outside to stand and face the enemy. If it was the Priestess they sought she would make it very clear she is not there, nor would they touch her...
