Beowulf awoke, roughly, in a small bed. His ears filled with an all too familiar sound of running water, and a soft breeze. He looked around at this surrounds, it seem like nice place, but how had he gotten there? Suddenly he grasped his face and felt the flesh from his former life, he was regenerating.
The mysterious figure stepped into the room and walked towards the bed. He tossed Beowulf a steak, cooked bird, and a few fish steaks. "Eat those." he demanded. "It'll bring your flesh and strength back." Beowulf shrugged and did as he said. He was shocked seeing this person, and at the same time greatful.
"How'd you find me?" Beo asked.
"Your son seems to have a small obsession with contacting you. Searching for necromancers, and spells that he shouldn't be tampering with. I figured I'd keep an eye on your resting place, incase any trouble to arise. Luckily I was there before a brown bear found some left over meet." The figure smiled and winked.
Beowulf nodded to himself. He was too tired to piece everything together at the moment. He felt so weak, coughing on and off and struggling to sit up. He desperately wanted to know why he was back. At the same time, the question wasn't really a factor, it was his son. Why had he needed to contact him so badly?
The figure nodded to Beowulf. "Sleep my old friend. Build your strength and eat well."
Beowulf's eye lids slowly close, he stiffled a small yawn. "Thank you Vaen." |
