Kard sat alone in the back room of the Library in Jhelom, sitting at a desk and looking over a blank parchment he had. His eyes were full of emotion, thinking over his past, he began to write. After a bit of writing, the parchment was half full, and tears blotted the parchment with wet spots. A light knock on the door announced the librarian, who poked his head in. "Ah, sir, are you about done? We ah.. need to have a meeting with some folks downstairs..." he glanced at Kard and shook his head, "you should get some rest, m'lord, you nay look so great." he said and bobbed his head, backing out and shutting the door. All the while Kard had sat with his head down, hiding his puffy eyes and sad expression. One last tear rolled down his cheek and fell onto the parchment as he scrawled the last sentence onto the parchment...
"To Cass... my first love, who will remain so always."
He rolled the parchment up into his pocket, donned his hat and cloak, and made his way out, ignoring the stares of the concerned librarians. He climbed upon Whisper's back and muttered something to the dark brown horse, and the horse neighed... almost sympathetically. Kard went off into the darkness, odd stares from the curious commoners following him like the shadow that was his past. |
