Something I should have put up awhile ago.

((Before anyone reads this, please use incharacter descression on any possible knowledge you read here. Do not use anything unless you previously experienced it, heard about it or saw it first hand. For this is only for ooc information.))

Shadow Wraiths

Origins and what created them is still not fully known. They appeared and were created from a strange shadowy and dark mist that ravaged through dark cove. May this be a spell or a curse that blighted the land, no one knows, nor the power behind it. There can be some assumptions, but as far as mist goes, the mystery will remain for the mean time.

Story of the fateful day of the mist is seen here.

How Shadow Wraiths are created.

Original Shadow Wraiths, or the first to be touched. Dark tendrils snaked out of the mist to everything that was alive or had a soul that it was near. When a tendril connected to a living being. It killed it in a sense. Killing it by draining the essence and energy of the living being. Another person looking onward will see a thing touched by them, stiffen, or freeze in place. Their skin will start paling in color to an almost white and the orbs of their eyes will start to darken and become solid black when fully drained.

The thing being touched will feel extreme biting cold to the point of an intense burning pain. Yet because of the cold, there are added effects of the freezing of nerves, forming an unnatural paralysis on the victum. Making their limbs lock in place and their vocal cords unable to emit the scream most will so desperately want to let out from the pain they feel.

Besides the victum starting to feel drained of energy and the will to live, their souls are at stakes as well. For what it does mainly is curse and transform the soul of the victum to that of a shadow wraith to walk the lands serving the power behind this.

Twisting the soul.

Living things can also become Shadow Wraiths from other Shadow Wraiths. Yet, more time and energy is needed to do so with this less powerful way of taking the soul. The mist was pure, Shadow wraiths are unpure do to them once being living things and not born that way.

Simular shadowy tendrils snake out of the body of a shadow wraith when that body piece is close to touching something living. The same effects happen as above to the victum, but at a much lesser degree. There is still a biting pain from cold and the locking of joints, but gives room for a person to try to resist. Depending on the rp and situation. Simple emotes from a person such as dodging or saying their soul resists and then them break away can be used.

When touched though in that area, and if escaped, a lasting pain or cold scar (seen as an area of paler skin) can be seen where the victum was touched. The Wraith needs to be visible and not hidden to attempt this, do to their using much of the power to warp the shadows and air to make their transparent bodies fully invisible.

A wraith when trying to turn a living being to one of them, needs to go up to the victum and should emote something reagarding them reaching for the victum and the tendrils comming forth from them in an attempt to connect. When connected, they can go through the process of what they see and feel. The rp is left to the imagination but should use descretion and follow around the guidelines placed.

An story that shows a wraith changing another as an example can be seen here.

What Shadow Wraiths look like and feel.

They are a transparent twisting of their original self of who or what they once were, but in a smoky or shadowy version of their previous form. The skin and equipment are in shades of grey, with their eyes being black solid orbs, that are so dark they have the appearance of absorbing light. Their vision in turn is nothing but a grey (black and white) shaded world with many shadows. The only thing of color seen is that of a non-tainted soul. (non-tainted by the power behind their existance that is) A non-tained soul in a living things is seen with shades of orange, yellow and red all over the form. Almost like seeing heat vision of a thing yet with much more detail on the people and things at hand.

The body seem to give off wisps of shadows, like heatwaves from a fire.

They don't tend to feel much but anger for those living and a want to destroy, kill or turn the souls to serve the power they do.

A story that can be used as an example is seen in this link.

Roleplaying a Shadow Wraith

Shadow Wraiths are a form of undead, and closely related to wraiths or shades but with a twist. Unlike wraiths or shades that can have a free will or mind, shadow wraiths were made to serve and do the power's bidding.

They are there for a purpose. To take or destroy souls, or kill the living, which they will try to do.

People that have a strong connection with the power can bind shadow wraiths to their will. Waking them up so to speak and have them focus on other tasks at hand other then somewhat mindless wondering searching for the living.

The reason for the somewhat part of mindless wondering is because each shadow wraith is unique to a degree or different in how they traverse the land. And it really depends on what they were or how they were in their former life before being cursed...or blessed. (depending on the way one views things)

An example is Daerauko. He was a hunter, guardian of sorts and a watcher. As a shadow wraith, he unconsiously traverses as such. He hunts constantly at the moment for victums, he guards strongly the land where he was turned (Dark Cove) from the living at the moment, and he keeps vigilant watch over all (living and dead) sizing them up before moving on or striking.

And he will never be able to change doing the primary puposes he did in life. He will always be a hunter, gaurdian and watcher in some way or form.

The one thing they all have in common. The hatred of the living. The anger of the souls color disrupting their new and wonderful (so they think) existance. They will always (unless controlled not to) try to kill the living. And they are in essence, servents of the one power.

People that follow or are strong with the power can bind or control shadow wraiths to do their will.

When speaking, usually the voice comes out in a ghostly, hollow or wispy sound. Most do not speak much.

Skill prerequisits.

necromancy skill level 30+ : Enough to be able to transform and stay in wraith form.

Skills that a shadow wraith should have are:

Hide and stealth 80+

Adds onto the possible roleplay fear on those that lurk in the shadows and people never knowing where their doom is until too late.

Hide 80+ is more important though than stealth.

The dramatic effect these two skills will have in the roleplay of the Shadow wraiths are immense. I will not even begin to stress on that. But not a required thing.

Other skills good to have is Spirit Speak.

Things that improve the roleplay of Shadow Wraiths:

Holiday bells that give off ghostly or wraith like sounds.

Smoke Bombs if you choose to have steath and hide so as to instantly warp shadows around you to hide infront of enemies.

etc.
