The clock had barely rolled over 3:00AM when the caretaker's eyes fluttered open. A soft tugging, almost like a heavy breeze, washed over him in his bed. Due to the orientation of his room, the wave started at his head and flew in the direction of his feet.

As his sleepiness quickly left him, he sat up in bed now with a curiosity about this...circumstance. Easing his feet into his pair of rabbit-skin slippers he took his first shuffling step towards the door.

WHOOSH!

Another push! Now that he was standing up, he wasnt sure if it was a more powerful wave, or now that he was standing he could feel the full force...eitherway, A new experience. It felt like, walking totally submerged through water, going against the current and only for a breif moment, except nothing was there. Stepping through the doorway, using the frame as a brace, he felt the nudge of another wave, this time more intense as it knocked him, unprepared, off balance slightly.

In the opposite corner of the room and on a short pedastal was the strange sphere which has been entrusted to his care just a few days earlier. Given to him with little explanation he was told simply to not touch it with his bare hands and "if it talks to you, tell me right away". Now he was begining to realize why no one else wanted to watch over this thing. Sinching up his nightrobe, he moved towards it.

WOOOOOOSH!

Stronger now, he was pushed backwards as if someone were right in front of him using force. The increasing strength of these waves troubled the man immensely. Getting nearer the sphere he grabbed an iron pipe which had been knocked off of the ceiling and halfway accross the room by the force the waves, and decided it was time to clock some sense into the orb. The caretaker, now but a few yards away, cocked the pipe back for his homerun swing only to be blown completely off his feet and backwards by the next surge.

As if right on queue, right after the last blast the strange object's core began to change colors and swirl about....first a mute orange, then darkening into shades of red and purple and finally settling on a murky green color. The caretaker, still reeling from his 'trip' pushed himself back until he was against the wall, taken back in fear. A small black dot came into focus from the core of the orb and slowly grew. A loose pattern appeared to take shape around the black dot in the murky depths of the sphere.

The black dot, now having grown into a sizable ball-shape itself, tightened up and stretched out all at once and spanned the distance from the top of the orb to the bottom. The mystical object now looked unmistakably like an eye. "But how?" was the only words the caretaker could muster.

In an act of consciousness the eye began to look around the room. Casually glancing from top to bottom, left and right, taking mark of its surroundings

A terrible ringing pierced the man's ears and a loud whisper filled his head all at the same time. The orb was calling out to him...and yet unable to control these new powers, Bailos was hurting the man.

Show me the way

Covering his ears with his hands, the caretaker yelled in agony as the voice spoke to him, the panging squelching all attempts at rational thought.

Show me the way, the whisper repeated.

Still, the man was unable to answer, pained by the ringing.

Already fed up without having answers, and eager to test his limits, Bailos focused his thoughts now on the man. His manifest eye [in the orb] narrowed its gaze down onto the man and sense of malevolence enveloped the room. The ringing in the man's ear slowly faded but refused to leave him entirely. The floorboards creaked softly then shuddered all at once and the man slowly saw himself being lifted off the ground.

Now suspended helplessly five feet off the air, and on his back, the man cried out over and over for help. His wife and three children were all awake by now and hurriedly opened the door and broke for their husband and father.

The eye....took notice........

A blinding flash. A wave of enery. The rest of the family was pushed back to the walls against the gale force of an unexplained energy that pinned them in place.

The ringing filled their ears and a terrible sense of dread washed over them....
