"Poet-san stop swaying. I shall fall from your shoulders if you do not stop your drunken swaying," said the small in stature monk named Tai Kwan Leap.
"Och, ye drunken sot, tis not me that is swayin'. Art thou daft to think I would let thee upon my shoulders with a flaming skull and not be sober?"
The door to the Garden is thrown open, and a young man walks through.
"Poet, what are you doing?" said the young man.
"Ah, Brother Metios, I am doing a bit of redecoration. Here let me show thee," and walks out from under Tai who is left hanging onto the rafters near the fireplace.
"Poet, I don't need a tour of the Garden, I am the co-owner!"
"Lad, we need to talk."
"Poet, all entrances and doors have had the locks changed. What the bloody hell is going on? Where is DeSiree?"
Metios ran around the many rooms looking for DeSiree.
"Poet-san!"
Poet ran back to help Tai down from the wall. There was a large crash in the gaming room, and Poet and Tai went down to investigate.
"...ooof...," Poet said as he gingerly rubs his posterior.
"Tai, if thou art going to thrust that torch into dark areas, I would prefer ye try not to reach those dark areas by aiming betwixt my legs." Poet steps aside and lets the eager monk go first.
As they enter the game room it appears to have been ransacked and there was no sign of Metios.
The two look at each other, each take out a pipe, and light it. Then in unison they both say, "This does not bode well."
****************
Many hours later, after much cursing and falls into the Ale Cellar (mostly by Tai). A lass stopped by. Her name was Scribble. Poet had known her a long time, she prefers to hunt alone or with her pets. She had expressed an interest of late in becoming more social.
Poet had been sitting on the front porch smoking his pipe and stitching his sleeve up where Tai had nailed him to the wall.
She explained to Poet she had come seeking the enchanted book that had inscriptions for the most popular taverns. Giggling she said she was not surprised to find Poet at one of them.
Poet explained to her that he had inherited the Garden, and though he was making a few cosmetic changes that the true heart and soul of the Tavern would remain the same as DeSiree had wished it.
Scribble asked Poet if he could buy her a drink.
Poet sighed, and said, "Alas, Tai nailed himself into the Ale and Wine Cellar, and I dinna want to harm him or the cellar. Would ye like to go to a different tavern?"
She agreed and Poet jumped up and chanted "Vas Rel Por" and crumbled three reagents. A red glowing portal opened up. They both stepped through to the Dark Adder.
They went up to the tavern area and then to the roof to watch some dueling.
Not long after they arrived Alessandra arrived without her memory intact. Poet was unsure if she was pretending. He played along when Alessandra thought that Cat Lyxen was a King. In fact, later on, when they had returned to the tavern downstairs, Poet introduced Maximus as Princess Maximus.
While Poet and Scribble and Cat and Maximus and Alessandra were trying to figure out how to repair her memory, Starfire, late of the Brotherhood arrived.
Then Cat and Starfire and Maximus took Alessandra on a taming expedition.
Poet was left alone in the tavern with Scribble. They snuck upstairs into the bath area and were having a jolly good bit of fun when there was a knock at the door.
"Poet! Are you in there" called out Metios.
"Aye me lad!"
"Poet we need to talk."
"Well, let me put my kilt and bonnet on and I will be right out." The sound of splashing and a giggling Scribble echoed in the bathing area.
"Poet, that's not your kilt, that is my skirt."
"Well, it felt woolen, I suppose I should take the blindfold off?"
Poet exited the bath and still dripping the scented waters lead Metios downstairs to the tavern. By this time, Ditto had shown up. When Poet attempted to salute her he did an impromptu jig as he stumbled about slipping in the water that still dripped from his body.
"Xaveria! Drinks all around, and especially for Metios here."
"Poet, you know I don't drink."
"I have some news you need to hear, lad. A drink might help. Actually several drinks might help. You should probably sit down."
Poet digs in his backpack throwing poetry journals and quills and ink pots and reagents and pipes and pipeweed pouches about. Then he pulls out an urn.
"Metios, our Sister DeSiree Noire is no longer with us" and passes the urn to Metios.
"She wanted you to have this."
Metios was stunned, and began raging. First he blamed the Brotherhood, then he blamed Poet, and finally he blamed himself.
"Drink deep, lad. It will not remove the pain, but it helps make it not so bright like a burning star."
"Ditto, with your permission, I would like to hold DeSiree's wake here.
Poet began the night with a new song that he had written for DeSiree called "Fallen Angel."
Then they all drank many toasts to DeSiree's memory well into the night with many voicing their memories of their friend, lover, sister, loyal guildmate. _________________ "When he spoke, what tender words he used!
