Mallory returned to her home from shopping at some of the local shops in town. She had been looking for a certain new fish she had heard of, a Nujel'm honeyfish. Apparantly it was a rare breed, because try as she might she couldn't find it anywhere. As she returned she was approached by a messenger of Sanctus with a message from Lord Chancellor Spawn asking her to meet in Blackguard with the rest of the council. She sighed softly and thanked the messnger and sent his on his way. So much had changed within the last few days. She had seen people leaving, and it puzzled her how people could change their loyalties so quickly. She was proud that the King was bold enough to see where the weaknesses were within the kingdom. He had been a fair king, giving them all chances. The only thought that came to her mind as she heard about people leaving was how she recalled a child in Minoc who did the same thing. If something did not go her way she would sulk and pout and if things still did not go her way she would take her toys and go elsewhere. Sometimes she gained sympathy and others followed her, but it was not long before she had turned all of her friends away. She became a very sad young girl and Mallory wondered what had ever become of her.

Later in the evening Mallory made her way to Blackguard for the meeting and she was pleased to see her new friend Toni sitting at the council table. She had heard that she had taken the place of Lord Dyn and it seemed like a good choice. Toni had a calm head on her shoulders and would make a good leader. Soon others arrived, and the meeting began. The first order of business was the appointment of Lord Eisernes as the Major of the Legion. It was a unanimous vote among the council members and Mallory felt that things were coming back together. There had been much turmoil of late, but now it was time for the Kingdom to rebuild and become stronger. As Mallory looked around the table, for the first time since the Legion had disbanded she felt as though she was home. She felt a loyalty among those seated here and she knew that based on that the kingdom would only grow and flourish.

Upon the adjournment of the meeting they sat around the table and talked. Lord Kruez had news of a new son, that had been born just that day. Lady Toni, with a shy smile and a slight flush to her cheeks, announced her betrothal to Morus. Mallory smiled and congratulated them both. It really was becoming a family among them. There were those that would question the stability of the community, but in her heart Mallory knew that this was the best decision for all involved. She excused herself and made her way home. She looked about the town hall and hoped that she was choosing the correct path. She missed her friends from Vesper a great deal, and she wished she had them to talk to. She decided that she would have a dinner party and invite them all. She went up to her room and as she readied herself for bed, her eyes caught sight of the book from Smiticles. She tucked herself into bed and picked up the book and read it again. With the words in her mind and heart and a smile on her lips, she leaned over and blew the candle out and fell asleep.
