Kira smiled happily to herself as she straightened up the library before going to bed. Thinking over the past few hours made her heart sing as it had never sung before. Humming a light tune and dancing around the library with an imaginary partner made her feel silly and carefree and she laughed out loud at the picture she must make if someone should walk in. Chuckling to herself, she stopped dancing and went to her chest and dug out a quill and her journal.
Sitting down at the long table in the library, she thought back upon the days events and began to write...
Valentines Day: Today was a wonderful day. Twas Valentine's Day. The day for love. I was dreading this day to be honest. Fred and I were to be married around this day, but alas, that did not work out. But as I think of how things are now, I am glad that we are not together. For I have met the most wonderful man in the world. We have not known each other long, but oh....the times we have spent together have been so wonderful! We have gone hunting together, and we seem to really work well together as a team. Except for that jaunt through Chaos. That was most unpleasant. But all in all, we have so much fun together. Pon is a man of great honor and courage. And I respect him greatly. He has a grand destiny to fulfill, and I plan on helping him to achieve that goal. That will eventually mean leaving Sanctus I am sure, though he says that I am free to do as I please, to serve Sanctus and help him. I am afraid though that my heart is pulling me towards his plans and goals. I wish to be by his side. And by his side I will be....as tonight....this very special day of love...Pon asked me to become his bride! Oh! I am so honored. And so....overcome....with love for this man. We were on his rooftop, in the garden, and we were speaking of his plans for the guild he is creating, and he suddenly became so serious, I thought something was wrong. But then...he asked me to be his bride. I choked up on tears of happiness but somehow I was able to tell him yes. So many plans to make. So many ideas for his home. For his guild. For our wedding. Tis mind-boggling at times. But I wouldn't trade it for the world, as he makes me so incredibly happy!
Blotting the words dry, Kira gently closed the book and held it to her chest, sighing happily. Standing, she walked back to the chest and returned the journal to its spot and blew out the candles. Walking quickly through the woods to Hanses, she found an empty room and fell into the first peaceful sleep she had had in months. |

Smiling to himself, Poniatowski leaned up against the stone battlement. From this vantage he could see the valley below wind its way southwards, narrowing as it approached the road to East Britain. Houses of all types lined it, from the mightiest stronghold to the most humble shack. Pon had never much liked the feeling of isolation often found outside the cities… It was good to see these signs of civilization. There may have been better views to be found in the land, this view was Pon’s, and that made it special enough.
Sighing contentedly, Pon turned and walked back across the roof of the tower. So much had changed for him, and so quickly that it was hard for him to fully appreciate. Such a short time ago he had been naught but a faded soul in search of purpose. And then…he met her. A smile reflexively crossed his face as he thought of Kira.
He remembered the night they met. Quite typically, he found himself at Hanse’s enjoying a pint. The next he knew, he was in an argumentative death match with an elven supremacist on the finer points of humanity’s right to continue existing. Kira had intervened…taking him away from the inn before the battle switched from one of words to something less civilized. Pon chuckled lightly as he considered how those supremacist fellows would feel if they knew they had played a part in bringing the two of them together.
He had asked her to marry him earlier that evening. Pon knew his strengths, and saying the right things to beautiful ladies was not among them. Pon’s smile grew broader…he must have said something right, as Kira said "yes". At that very moment he had known that he had rediscovered purpose, he soul was revived by Kira’s love. He had found a new path, a new devotion. This time he would not walk the path alone. |
