...and walked out onto grounds which he could only vaguely relive in his horrors. It was the Ebon Skull's temple, the single place that had haunted his travels when he had explored the realm of Malas. Stepping forward, Dan could only watch in horror as he himself was being controlled into actually stepping inside the temple walls.

It was very dark, and the only glow from which he could see was the altar in front of him. Standing within the shadows, the unmounted dark riders stood there, watching him, waiting for him to submit to his weakness. As he gazed to the alter, a shrouded figure strided from behind a pillar and stood in front of it. Looking directly towards him, suddenly Dan had regained the feel of his limbs and movements, but he could not move his feet.

What was this thing, controlling parts of his body?

"I know of your burden," said the figure before the altar, "and I know of ways in which to remove it from you." Standing in disbelief, Dan refused to hear the words of poison that he was being fed, but neither could he avoid them, due to his frozen feet. Having no choice buto face the shrouded man, he only returned his words with a expression is despise. "Who are you?", he asked the shrouded man, only to see him hold out his arms to answer his question. "Norture", he replied, and a grin peeled from what features could be seen from under his hood. Snarling in disgust at him, Dan began to channel his powers in an attempt to escape his hold, only to be denied by a shot of pain that went up his right arm. Falling to his knees, he knew that his scar had to have something to do with this, but was ignorant for the moment.

Looking down, Norture grin remained on his face as he watches what hopeless squirms his victim had made for freedom. Dan was but a prisoner of his own dark potential, and that dark potential would not be used in any of his rival's hands.

Dan cringed and held up his right palm to check it once again, only to see the scar glowing brighter and brighter. Something was happening, and what it was he just could not understand. Clinching his right fist, and without much thought, he shot a look to Norture with the very words that would damn him for good.

"Remove this burden!"

Taking advantage of the panic that was so obviously running through Dan's mind, Norture and his fellow Ebon Skulls quickly drifted to their positions as Norture lifted Dan's right palm in his hand began the ritual. Kneeling down before him, words whizzed past his ears as he the burning pain in his arm slowly faded, and dimmed down to its normal look, but something was wrong. The ritual still proceeded, and suddenly a new, "cold" pain began to screench through his very senses. Looking on in absolute horror, he could but only watch on as the Ebon Skulls abused their magics into his arm. The scar then began to spread, so he saw, as if growing like a vine up around his right arm. Closing his eyes to avoid the truth, he looked away to the floor as the Oblivion magics slowly made their way past his right shoulder and near his eye, near his mind.

Images flashed before him as he saw what memories of his old life in Sanctus. His fellow officers, his friends, the innocents, and Talon, each single image fading into the darkness that was enveloping his thoughts. Then a laugh began to echo, growing louder and louder until Dan collapsed onto the ground.

When he opened his eyes once again, there we no surrounding, no images left from which he could reference his past to. All he knew was that he was hanging on some sort of cross in his pysche, materialized only through psyonic energies. A voice them boomed around him, giving a sinister chuckle as it summarized his situation...

"I'm in control now."
