“Mark! Mark!” the little boy yelled from a distance. Slowly, Mark turned around; he was almost to the inn. The boy looked up at Mark and smiled. “Sir, I heard what that Elf lady was saying about this not being our land, so I wrote a letter I wanted you to send to her. Could you send it, please?” the boy asked. Mark nodded slowly and reached out with his hand to take the letter. The boy handed Mark the letter, and bolted off towards the beach. “Thank you, Mark!” he yelled as he disappeared down the steps to the beach.

Mark slowly opened the letter, sitting down on the steps to read it.

Dear Elf Lady,

I just wanted to say hello! And that what you said wasn’t very nice. I do not know if you remember far back or not, but you came to Magincia once and brought men with you that killed my father. My mother said they were Rogues of Mystin, and that you were the one who brought them here. My father was a town guard, and they killed him when he tried to serve the city. I still miss him. I just wanted to say let us be. We are happy here, and my mother has a job now that she didn’t have before and everything is good again. Let us live and be happy.

Thank you lots,

James Pratcher

Mark slowly rose to a stand and began to walk up the stairs; he tucked the letter into his belt and frowned. “I hope she can at least listen to the boy. Gods knowing she won’t listen to me.”
