It was a windy evening as Dan pulled his horse's reins towards the road. The breeze was gentle though, and calming.

It had finally come time to where Dan was now ready to take on independent assignments from his division captain, Eldred Jonas. He was abit proud, he had to admit, but another sense of sadness seemed to accompany him as he prepared for his first journey as a Sanctus Soldier. He wouldn't see his fellow officers or soldiers for quite some time, but he knew he would see them again.

He knew it.

In the back of his mind, thoughts began to surface that he should stay within the Sanctus grounds and try to improve his stature and rank. The back of his mind though, with good thoughts and ambitions, were blocked out. Dan was happy as a soldier. He knew he was happy, and he knew that it gave them the advantage to make Sanctus just as much a better place as any officer did. He could serve his Order, while having no extra burden of responsibility. He, himself, could make himself the finest example of what a soldier should act of, and how they should go about doing it. Dan wasn't sad at all that he was holding himself back doing this first mission.

In knowing this, a grin peeled up onto his face as he loaded up the last of his rations onto the horse's sidepacks. Having been gone so long, his old mount Maximus had died of old age, but not before it had time to mate with a close friend of Dan's and create another male horse. By the time he had returned back to Sosaria and discovered this, he decided to name the horse "Wildheart".

As he mounted up onto his horse he could see higher up than what he did from the ground. The road seemed to stretch out evermore, as moon slowly rose over the horizon. In such a wonderful and beatiful evening, it was the perfect time to leave with peace of mind within Dan's concience. Looking around for any bystanders, he gave a quick shout and Wildheart began its way in its rider's direction. Before he could finally ride out, Dan had Wildheart slowly trot in front of the Hostel and Castle Blackguard for a good image to keep in his memories. By this time next week, he knew he would return.

Without a farewell to his friends and superiors, he rode off into the night and into the beginning of his new career.
