Smiticles was still sitting, note in hand, well into the evening. He had been contemplating the state of his guild, his recent ordeal, the many changes to the village and the painful thought of lost friends and lost love.

A banging and crashing sound from across the yard startled him. His windows had overgrown with vines but he found just enough space to manage a glimpse outdoors. There, going in and out of the new structure where the guildhall once stood, was an stubby ugly dwarf. This altitudely challenged man was carrying all sorts of construction materials and supplies.

"Wonderful! The new neighbor's a dwarf. He'll be banging and bashing anvils at all ungodly hours" And just as these thoughts escaped his lips Claudette stepped out of the house.

The elation he felt inside after finally laying eyes on a close friend and comrade was overwhelming. Rushing out the door he fell face first over a stump but hardly touched the ground before he was up and forward.

Claudette and Smiticles embraced long and hard. It was a reunion that made him feel finally at home. He preceeded to relay the story of his dissapearance and she relayed the story of the many changes to the village and the guild. Brianha had gone missing which was why her home was converted to a stable. Nico had moved into Max's home and this ugly dwarf running about was his contractor. Most importantly, Claudette assured him that the ALV was alive and strong and, most surprisingly, Max had returned to his place as Guildmaster. In deed he had even purchased the Riverrun Manse and it was now serving as the ALV guildhall.

All of this came to Smiticles as partially shocking but mostly refreshing. He had been long friends with Max, since childhood, and his departure had bitten him strongly. He would forgive him but, inside, Smiticles felt betrayed of his loyalty and knew it would take Max some time to rebuild his trust. He would most likely thump him good upside the head then pick him up and embrace him as a brother once more.

He longed to see them all, his guild once again, and to sit in the new guildhall as a complete band of brothers once more.

Claudette and he spoke at great length, well into the night. Before departing she relayed one last bit of advice to him. "Seek out Mallory" she advised. "You must find her. For better or worse she must at least know you are alive, safe and sound".

Heading off to bed, with a new sense of purpose and a jublilent heart once more, he vowed that he would seek her out. Claudette was right. She cared for him and, whether she still loved him or not, she must at least know that he was home and safe.
