|
The night air was chilly in Umbra, but it did not seem to bother the young girl standing near the bank. Her eyes were soft yet hawk like, watching the passersby with little interest. She was on a mission and she would not fail. She looked down into her hand at the exquisite glass rose that she had crafted by the local glassblower. He had thought it being crafted for a loving mother, and his craftsmanship was superb. She was slightly saddened knowing its fate, but it would serve its purpose well. She had heard that there would be patrons in the Hostel of Sanctus, and it would make for the ideal backdrop for her little production. The only piece remaining from the puzzle was the key actor. She would want to choose someone that was well known, and that would be sure to spread the word quickly. She arrived at the Hostel and the perfect host was there… Molly Willow. The young lady had heard of her from many within the order. She would serve well for the purpose. The plan went perfectly. The young girl planned well, speaking to the woman and making her feel at ease. Molly’s eye lit up when she saw the beautiful handcrafted rose, but it was the fear and the confusion in her eyes when the poison hit her that made the girl smile. She leaned down close to the woman and whispered softly “I am the thorn in your side…” She looked around the room at the others and with feigned alarm runs out to find help. She ran north, and then followed the mountains back to the south to Umbra, her home. When she arrived home she found one of the elders at the bank and she recounted her evening. He asked what her name was and she simply replied “I am Emily.” |

She had come to check on her pets at the stables and spend some time with Tef. He was to meet her there after he had finished up some personal business that night. He must have been running late because he had not arrived yet.
As she waited, to her suprise and delite her friend, Ditto, arrived. They had not talked long the night before and she had hoped to continue their talk since Tef had not shown up yet. She and Mark and some other chap had arrived so she merely got to greet her before they got involved in a discussion. They were discussing their time in the Dark Order and she felt a little uncomfortable overhearing such, since she had been opposite side of many battles with them. It was getting late so she opted to contact Tef from her home to let him know to meet her there instead.
She had made her goodbyes and was headed for the door as they continued their conversation. She made it as far as the middle of the room when the doors opened.
A young woman stepped in. She seemed to be surveying the room when her eyes settled on Molly. A soft smile crossed the young woman's lips as she stepped towards her as Molly was reaching for the door handle.
The young woman spoke to her and asked her of her Farey-elven herratage. She said her mother had given her something that was made by faeries. That certainly got Molly's attention and it was all it took for Molly to stop in her tracks to talk to her. Her thoughts went to her mother's face as she was growing up and a soft smile came over her lips at the memories. A connection with faeries...one she had not had in a long time. She thought as she spoke to the girl of how she missed her mother.
The young woman discribed what was given her by her mother and then began to fish in her back pack for something. As her hand came from the bag, Molly spied the most exquisit and delecate glass rose she had ever seen. She started to tell the girl that her mother had had one similar but as she opened her mouth to speak the young girl fumbled the rose and it came crashing to the floor.
Instinctively, Molly stooped down to try and pick up the pieces and attempt to repare it magicly or perhaps take it to the pixies, relatives of the fae, by the tree in the woods behind the building to ask them to repare it.
She carefully picked up some of the shards of glass, when one pierced her hand. As Molly tried to stand, she wabbled dizzily. She dropped the remaining shards to the floor just as she herself fell to her knees again. She looked at the young woman who's smile seemed to turn to a smirk. Then Molly felt searing pain and began to feel violently ill all of a sudden. As she did the young woman came close to her ear and said "I am the thorn in your side" just before she colapsed and all went black. _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel

Tef had been running very late that eve, takeing longer then he had planned. After getting Molly's message to meet her at Hanse's he swiftly rode his magical mount there like the devil himself was after him before she gave up waiting for him.
Practically skidding to a stop in front of Hanse's jumping off his mount, an
heading inside he discovers the place empty of patrons except for the bartender who was busy with bartender things.
"perhaps she left already" he mumbles to himself "or she's running late herself" He heads over to one of the tables with some water after purchaseing it from the bartender an sits with his back to the wall so he can watch the door for Molly.
Noticeing the two botles of ale on the table an some glass on the floor he waits sipping on his water finding it rather odd that it wasn't cleaned up.
After waiting some time for Molly to arrive, sighing sadly that she must have went home, he decides to head home himself, when the doors of Hanse's open an two strangers walk in heading for a back room, one of them carrying Molly in his arms.
"Oh my god" he mumbles in shock, jumping out of the chair an practically over the table heading for where there taking her. barely recovering in time from slamming the door open an demanding what was going on.
Tef quickly pulls himself together an knocks on the door instead as he feels someone behind him an swiftly spins around to face this threat an surprises him.
Not getting any answers from this stranger he heads into the room seeing Molly laying on the bed looking quite pale, an finding out she had been attacked and posioned by some young woman, but will recover cause of the quickness of these two gentleman, one being a healer an also Lady Ditto who Tef hasn't seen in sometime who was already there.
Spending several minutes listening to what happened they offer there help to find this woman an Tef agree's as long as they bring her back alive.
Haveing been told it would be best to take her home so she could rest he gently picks Molly up off the bed an casts a spell to create a portal to Molly's home an goes threw.
Gently carrying Molly up to her room an gently placeing her in bed an covering her with a blanket. "Your safe now Molly i'm here" he tells her barely above a whisper kissing her on her forehead an seeing her smile up at him as she gently falls asleep.
Seeing her there so helpless an curseing himself for being so late in meeting with her,an had he been there on time he might have been able to provent this attack, an this woman who attacked her tonight.
Had anyone been there they would have seen a small fire in Tef's eyes start to grow. For the first time he was learning to hate those who would harm someone that ment more to him then life itself _________________ Hate binds a warrior,

It had been a wonderful night of celebrations and Ditto had chosen to end it by relaxing at Sanctus' hostel in good conversation with friends. Sir Kurt of the Dark Order had chosen to be her companion and guard that day and so they sat, chatting and visiting with others, like Mairsil, whom she loved like a brother.
Ditto's natural curiosity and blunt nosiness had made for an adequet spy for her husband in the past, but lately, she had been trying very hard not to be quite so nosey. An easier task said than done with her accute hearing. But, still, she tried not to listen to her friend, Molly's conversation with the young girl. At the sound of crashing glass however, Ditto's head snapped around and found herself looking across the room, straight at the girl. When the young miss began to bend to whisper something to Lady Molly, Ditto tensed. Something about the demeanor of the girl wasn't right and her face changed from friendly to deadly. Ditto physically turned her head back to her own companions, yet her full attention rested on the two ladies near the door. Very quickly thereafter, Molly made a sound and fell to the ground. The young woman quickly left Hanse. With the help of Lord Mairsil and Sir Kurt, the three aided Molly to the Britain Healer.
The Healers in Britain seemed quite busy and shorthanded. Ditto didn't like the way they treated their patients so roughly and the place itself seemed foul. After speaking with the Healer in charge, Ditto knew she didn't want any of them touching her friend. Ditto's soul was not like most in the realm and she had, in the past, needed the aid of a specialist. The most professional and skilled healer she had met, the Patriarch Galnor Bloodmoon, one of her closest of friends and confidantes. She swiftly wrote a letter to him via hawk and waited for his reply. He arrived quicker than she had anticipated, but with no time for hugs or hellos, and he went to work on Molly immediately.
Ditto watched, as always, in awe of Galnor's skill. She provided as much information as she could and answered all his questions as quickly as her memory allowed. She glanced around at a sudden swiftness of motion to see her friend, Mairsil leaving. He would have no part of being in the same room with Galnor if he could help it, but would be near if needed. Ditto's worry for Molly stopped her from arguing for him to stay, and she only nodded as he left.
Galnor commented on the weak curing aids the Healers had tried, and he seemed rather amused at their attempts. In a short time at Galnor's hands, Molly's eyes had fluttered open. Ditto smiled in relief. She knew it wasn't over, but, since the first time since Molly had fainted, she knew too that the lady wouldn't die. At this stage Molly could be moved, and so Galnor had ordered it. Again they all saw her through a gate and into a comfortable bed at Hanse, where, Sir Teflon, in a distressed and worried state, stayed by Molly's side. The warmth that Tef showed Molly both softened and confused Ditto. She had indeed missed much in Sosaria.
With Molly recovering, Ditto then turned her attention to the suspected culprit. With concern for Molly's future health, Ditto wanted to find the girl who had poisoned Molly and deal with her in a not so pleasant way. Tef disagreed and wanted the girl captured unharmed for questioning. In Ditto's mind, the questioning part made sense, but the unharmed part didn't. It seemed more Teflon's duty to see to things, and so, Ditto left it at that. |
