You finished it already Cal? How many hours did you put into that playthrough?

32 hours 24 minutes. Haha. Yes, I got little sleep this past week. I was up late talking with Darmug and Sakkarah about the game each step of the way, sharing our OMGWTF moments without sharing spoilers of each path we're taking.

Mage:

Spirit Healer - Taught by Wynne by pursuing her personal story. Alternatively, a manual can be bought from a vendor in the Wardens Keep (DLC).

Arcane Warrior - Taught by The Presence in the Brecilian Ruins.

Shapeshifter - Taught by Morrigan if asked to. Alternatively, Master Varathorn in the Dalish Camp teaches it as well.

Blood Mage - Talk your way to a bargain with the Desire Demon possessing the kid Connor in the Fade during the events of Red Cliffe Castle. One of the options will be to teach you Blood Magic.

Warrior:

Berserker - Taught by Oghren. Alternatively, a manual is available for purchase of a vendor in Denerim near the end of the game.

Reaver - Taught by the cultist Kolgrim in a temple close to the Village of Haven. Note that only completing this quest will prevent Champion from being available for training in the same playthrough.

Templar - Taught by Alistair by pursuing his personal story. Alternatively, you can purchase a manual offered by merchant Bodahn in the party camp.

Champion Taught by Arl Eamon in Red Cliffe upon successfully completing the 'Urn of Sacred Ashes' quest. Note that only completing this quest will prevent Reaver from being available for training in the same playthrough.

Rogue:

Assassin - Taught by Zevran by pursuing his personal story. Alternatively, a manual can be bought from a vendor in Denerim near the end of the game.

Bard - Taught by Leliana by pursuing her personal story. Alternatively a dwarf called Alimar in Orzammar trains it as well.

Duelist - Taught by Isabela in the The Pearl in Denerim after defeating her in a game.

Ranger - Taught by a manual sold by merchant Bodahn in the party camp.

Wow only about 32 hours? Damn sir you flew through the game. I'm taking my time, I've only just completed Lothering and I'm about 16 hours. I love making games like this last.

I plan to take it slow on this run. Although 16 hours and not out of Lothering seems like you are going reeaaally slow. Which isn't a bad thing.

Heh, well a few of those hours might be from me leaving the game on and doing other things. I'd maybe put it at 12-13 hours, I guess. And I talk to EVERYONE and do every single quest, basically do everything possible. Also I just spent a good bit of time figuring out my party, their weapons/armor, tactics, etc.

Oh, and apparently you can have a foursome in this game. Shocked

Slightly off topic, but some games with play time timers on the PSP somehow still count when you put the game into 'sleep' mode. I think my Crimson Gem Saga save is somewhere around '300 hours of played time'. <.<

By the way...

You can quick save before doing one of these, then load your save, and the specialization will remain unlocked, as it is bound to your account, not playthrough. This way if you want Reaver and Blood Mage and whatnot and NOT be a completely evil bastard, you can. Enjoy. (Wish I'd known this when I was doing those two things.)

Yeah I thought about that afterwards. I couldn't do Arcane Warrior Blood Mage like I wanted. But Arcane Warrior itself is INSANELY powerful if you get the right spells. I recommend Arcane Defense, flame/cold weapon, and all the glyph spells alongside all the specialization spells. I had to ramp my game up to Hard difficulty to get a challenge when I build the AW. I might go through the game again as AW because it really was that much fun. This time I'll be able to do blood mage, though.

Seriously. AW is insane with the right config. So dirty.

Did my first play through and tried to make things as tough for myself as possible. Made what I perceived to be the decisions that forced me into the most difficult mechanical challenge, played a human warrior, no specialty, didn't do a single enchantment, didnt make a single potion. It was awesome! I've never had to work that had before on a normal difficulty setting.

I am going to crank up the toughness, do a human spirit healer, and play through normally now!

All I have to say though is DEAR GOD ALL THE LOADING SCREENS

Along the same lines, Bailos, do Arcane Warrior and go solo, only taking companions when it wants you to. AW because if you went as any other class solo you'd probably fail hardcore no matter what you did.

If your load times start to go over one minute, either close down the game and start it again. For PC, anyways. I have no idea if that'll do any good or be worth the time on the 360/PS3 versions. I've had some 3-5 minute load times in Orzimmar, only to restart and have the same aread load in 8-10 seconds.
