Thanks. Correction though. Are = Were. Legion is done in UO... Again.

The allies thing is interesting... Too problematic for Atlantic though. Evil doesn't have any allies, because there is only one evil guild... GoodNeutral (since the line is so blurred) all hates eachother or we'd go back to the 'omfg stonestack' fun.

In the height of Legion's UO career, we had 4 events per week. One was an alliance meeting, one was a tavern crawl in Haven, one was something random we'd all just get together and do, and the last was a PvP training.

2 Definite RP events
1 Miscellaneous event
1 PvP event.

Think that's a good balance.

Ok, slightly OT reply about PvP and RP as I have been a member of and/or led two guilds who have been in the bonfire for "being more PvP than RP". Every RP setting has to have a balance. In DnD, characters have stats and feats, in LARP there are abilitys, weapons (even though they are foam covered Wink ), etc, and in UO there are skills such as swordsmanship, parry, etc. Now, these are all used basically to be able to back up your RP.

I have found that most of the arguments against too much PvP in RP stem from people that believe they can't properly RP their characters or control how they want the RP to go because they are beaten at PvP. This is what it boils down to, you need to be able to back up your RP. Don't create a character with GM swordsmanship, 85 or less in other skills and try to pass him off as Garet Jax (literary reference) or some other great swordsman warrior that can not be beaten. Don't RP that your kingdom has a vast army that can war and then if you are beaten, whine about who you fought. Train more, practice, do what you need to do to RP your character as you wish. If you want to RP such a warrior, then go out on quests, get the items that you need, practice with comrades, and become what you want to become. If you try to RP a grand warrior, then learn to be just that. RP is not just words, it is actions that support your RP and storyline.

That is where the PvP comes in. If you can't perform like you believe your character should, practice more, invest the time. A title, rp description in your profile, or what clothes you wear does not define your character, it is the actions he or she takes.

Legion always seemed like a pretty cool guild. I fought legion many times under different banners with different characters. Drow, Dark Order, etc.

I never really had a personal problem with vaen or anyone else...

Truth be told I think my biggest problem with legion was tied in to something already mentioned. Legion was everywhere. For a while it seemed like every battle against any guild, for whatever reason, I was fighting legion too. And it got to the point where yes, you guys got alot of bad press..but you also got alot of hero worship from the people who did like you.

Maybe it sounds petty..no offence..but after a while just hearing about how great someone and their guild is all the time just gets to be annoying. I think that pushed me away from associating with legion more then anything. Everyone was either talking about legions greatness or how much they hated em. Couldnt help but think, well what about the rest of the community eh?

Anyways, my two cents. I've had plenty of arguments with vaen and kuja especially over the years..but i dont think its ever been personal. Least not for me.

Even if arguments get deep and frustrating for me, time heals all wounds. There are only two people on my hate list and neither have played UO in a long time. I might be aggrivated or upset with a few people currently, but until someone goes out of their way to make me or my friends life hell... Well, at that point, they move up to the hate list. And even then, its possible to drop off that list of mine with some redeeming.

In truth when i first heard about legion I didnt know what to think even with all the things people said. I guess in the end I let my self form my own opinion about the guild by getting to know them as a whole.

I like Mairsils reply the best. Your #1 in my books! ...and Mave you strike a valid point..too many people rp their chars bein tough top ass rubbish..than fall apart in a moments notice. If your only good enough to be a footsoldier..than your going to have to rp being a foot soldier..cause chances are people arnt going to fall over because you want to rp the best..

The kingdom point was good to. You definitly cannot claim to have a kingdom and a grand army and than complain relentlessly when you lose.

I am, and have been a legion member for ever. I'd carry through to NWN2 with em if my comp didn't suck the hine tit. I've been with vaen is numerous guilds..and respect every member..(except that darmug kid..god I hated him.. Rolling Eyes )

I remember when I first started Atlantic RP ..I was only in Dark Order. When I was at Poets Garden and I would be trying to rile up the crowd and start up a fight (this was when people didnt unwar your guild and icq ooc complaining...) the legion would come in..As soon as I saw Vaen, Rachel, Valatin, William etc.. walk in and line up...I just sat down.

In the left hand, Legion got crap for being so good in battle. (We had top notch tactics as well.) In the right hand, Legion was praised for being so good in battle. It's safe to say..we had to take the good with the bad. But as "roleplay" moves on..and people rise to power...more OOC events arise..and more crap is being thrown.

mave strikes a great point i think, of balancing roleplay with mechanics, I have met a few people who wanted to rolepay being the fearsome warrior who was the best and everyone should fear, but couldn't fight, now I'm not saying "you have to pvp to rp" but you know its like roleplaying a grand crafter without having crafting skills you know?

I would call Tatiana a twink if she didn't have 100+ smithy Razz

This is another reason why I do not rp faith anymore. I can roleplay faith well enough as a mean drow and a priestess. Problem is, she is supposed to be great in battle since drow are supposed to be powerful. But with all these other players either with better templates, or decked out in arties, can tear through faith like a paper bag.

Not all drow are supposed to be great in battle. Drizzt's sisters got the crap kicked out of them. Besides, I've gone over this with you as well, Lloth's power doesn't reach the surface very well.

Any magic items from the underdark lose their powers in the span of 2-4 weeks. You would have to be a ylolkol (however it's spelled) to retain even half of them. I don't expect Faith to be good at PVP, her main weapon was usually seduction. Maybe if you had a mirror or something that allowed you to draw or tap into energy from Lloth.. Perhaps RP that your globe of Sosaria allows you to communicate with her?

If you aren't the best at pvp it's fine, it never seemed to hinder your plots, any. You still made off with a few people, and got your poisons in. All you need is confidence, silly drow.

My issues with the Legion mainly revolved around Vaen. He's a nice guy and all.. but seriously..

I remember way back when, he was like, "Dude.. I'm going to have 0 magic resist." And I'm like, "Wtf? You're going to die from like everything. You need magic resist." And he didn't take magic resist for like ever(think he took it up after a long while, but still). I wanted to para-gank him so bad.. but he cheated and used secret methods(NO YOU CAN'T KNOW THE SECRET METHODS!! They were pretty awesome, though).

And the second thing was when they got Legion Island, again way back when. I forget how it started, but I think it was Vaen who was like, "Hey! I'll show you Legion Island." and I'm like, "k, gate meh!" Except Vaen couldn't cast Gate then(what a no0b) so someone else did or I did or I don't even remember. Anyways, we get there.. I blink.. look around.. and go, "Vaen, this is Ocarina Island." And he's just a jerk and goes, "NO!!! LEGION ISLAND!" That was really sad.

I think that's about it. Oh, Rachel made fun of me for flirting with your NPC bartender one night, and that wasn't so nice.

Mallory's just a big mean person and her signatures always used to be way too cute. *Gag*

Mithaniel had way too many alts, and I got confused a lot.

I did like Valatin, though. I told someone randomly that I just wanted to go fight someone.. just because I wanted to PvP for a bit, and they told me to go to Leg.. OCARINA ISLAND. So I go there, and Valatin logs into his house and just comes out and we start randomly fighting. Was pretty awesome, very epic duel seeming. Then we ran out of regs and shared what we had, etc. Lasted for a while and was very fun. He was the only cool person. *Nod nods*

We had fun on LEGION ISLAND, didn't we Alex? Razz By the way, when I dismissed the barkeep, she was asking for you. I told her you left, though, so she settled for Leshok.

This is why I don't like Vaen. DO YOU SEE?!

And I want to marry Cat now, but I don't play UO so that one would be a bit rough. I still pine for my lost love.. the Barkeep, though.
