"You're a wonderful gentleman... but I'm promised.... I hope you understand..."
The words rung through his head. How could he be so stupid? This hurt he felt for a lady he viewed as one of the greatest creations on Sosaria. But she was taken. Promised. To be married.
Asher tried to force a smile as she got back up on her mount and recalled off, but his heart wasn't behind it. He didn't know what to make of it. Is this what love is? Did he love her? "No," he thought, "Too soon. But she really sparked my interest... but she's someone else's."
Asher sighed, and then leans back against the stones of the front wall of the Hostel.
"Perhaps this love life just isn't for me," Asher said, "I've seen what it can do to people. Maybe my life is just to serve Sanctus."
Thinking to himself a moment, he stared at the ground. Nodding his head and then shaking his head as thoughts come into his mind, he figured he only knew one thing for sure. "I'm alone for now. I thought I almost had something, but that isn't to be. Not now. I wish her the best of luck. But now, for myself," he sighed, "I suppose I should go draw up some Arcane training exercises. Atleast I know I can do that." |

The air was crisp and the countryside seemed to glow in the early morning light. Out for her usual morning ride, Roxxy felt a sense of peace as she drank in the scenery. She could not recall the last time she had enjoyed her ride this much. Confusion had clouded her mind as of late. But, since she had sought the counsel of two close friends, things seemed clearer now. She smiled as she thought of their advice, for, although she met with each on separate occasions, they both had very similar remarks. “Do what makes you happy. There’s plenty of time.”
She had made it clear to him that she was to be wed. She had even gone away, alone, to think and sort out her feelings. Yet somehow he found her. Roxxy laughed aloud, recalling her thrill when she had turned to see him. There was something intriguing about him, a sense of confidence coupled with a boyish charm. She had decided to know him better, learn about him. She had agreed to have a friendly dinner with him tonight after work.
Lost in thought, she did not notice a dire wolf that had crept up behind her. It growled, startling Roxxy.
“Kal Xen, Bal Beh,” she said instinctively, summoning an undead spirit that immediately began to strike the creature.
“In Bal Nox.” The words resonated as she slowly bent her fingers together to form a fist, glaring at the painful strangling of the wolf from atop her horse.
“Loup stupide,” muttered Roxxy as she quickly looked around, hoping no one had witnessed her display. Slowly, she turned back to the dead creature. A malicious pleasure pulsed through her. “L'attaquant est la victime,” she said in a low voice. Composing herself, Roxxy continued on her early morning ride. |
