The past month of what could only be described as hell coursed through his mind as he walked slowly through the city of Umbra. Repent. He looked sadly down at his withered arms. Though he still retained much of the strength he had been gifted with, the consequences of his actions had left him withered, emaciated... his skin was shriveled, his very appearance was sickening. Redemption by my own hand. His hands were massive, but the fingers long and seemingly brittle. He looked weak, and no longer had the arrogance to know any better.
It's time for a change. But I will not turn away from our promise.
And then he saw her. The drow... she was short, but graceful, strong... she wore the same clothes... she was the one he had been told about. Standing right there, in the bank... with them.
"Ailiya."
She responded to this name. He could see the four of them, talking... he couldn't make out words, though he recognized all three of them... Kryphon, and Aras... and her... I thought she was dead. Again. She was a hideous sight, the half-elf... his long-time enemy, forever plagued by her presence.
What happened next came as a shock. The wisp hovered near Aras for a moment, then collapsed into its corporeal form - the crystal wisp fragment. And then he just gave it to her. Steel was angry at this... how long had he sought that wisp, only to have the young shade give it up without a second thought.
The drow said a couple words... he could make out "Wisp Dungeon." So that's where she is. The drow then stepped into the shadows, vanishing. Without a word, the three companions disappeared into a moongate. Let them have their fun.

It wasn't long before he stumbled upon the drow again... having a nice little chat with Xandria. He tried to keep it brief, simple... to the point. A bit of conversing later that his mind seemed to completely skip, he decided to take action.
It's time to redeem myself... time to do something good.
With a smooth motion he closed his massive hand around the drow's neck, lifting her from the ground. He demanded the wisp, several times... finally, she reached into her robes and handed it to him, staring into his face angrily.
"Is she freed?" he asked. The drow nodded in response, and he let her go.
He then turned to Xandria, speaking calmly, "I was wrong. The wisp doesn't have the spell."
Slowly he turned to the drow before him, glaring under her hood, into her eyes. "No... I have another use for this." _________________ |
