The door to the cyrpt slowly crept open and the sound of fresh air entering the cyrpt could be heard outside as the two grave robbers opened the door the rest of the way and stepped into the tomb. Looking around both men tried to find any torches to light with the torches they carried in there hand since the darkness outside multiplied the Darkness inside the cyrpt. After finding what they were looking for Theo and Thaddius lit the torches and made there way towards the center of the building..
Once arriving at the tomb Thaddius bent down and looked at the name on the tomb.
"Is this the tomb brother asked Theo nervously."
"Yes.. Yes.. now leave me be so I can figure out how it opens said Thaddius as he began to study the corners of the tomb looking for any clues on how to open it."
While Thaddius continued to look for a way to open up the tomb his brother began snooping around the crypt, Came to the rear wall and lifted his torch and looked at the paintings hanging there. Looking at the paintings he began to think what a strange thing to have in a Cyrpt when all the sudden the steel door to the outside slammed shut scaring Theo to the point he droped the torch in his hand near his foot and almost set himself on fire..jumping out of the way Theo nearly bumped into his brother sending him crashing into the tomb.
"Watch what your doing you Moron..said Thaddius to Theo." Theo looked at his brother in a shameful way and said sorry and bent down and picked up his torch. Theo after picking up his torch moved towards his brother and watch him as Thaddius continued to try to find a way to open the tomb.
Time pasted and almost an hour went by as neither brother spoke a word either because of the erie feeling they had in the pit of there bellies or because they didnt wish to distrub each other..then suddenly Thaddius sighed with a breath of relief.
"There we go!!!.. Finally figured out how to open the bloodly thing..Now Theo go over there on the other end and help me lift this lid, Thaddus said as he began walking to his end of the tomb. Once both brothers were at there end of the tomb the both lifted with all there might and pulled the lid off. They then sat the lid down beside the tomb and then leaned over and peered inside of the tomb.
Thaddius and Theo both wistled at the same time at what they saw. Inside the tomb sat a coffin that was made of Valorite Metal and at each end a Dagger was shoved in slits keeping the coffin closed.. They both then jumped for joy at the great find they had uncovered. Once calmed down the both leaned over and and began to try to pull the daggers out..after few mintutes of trying the two fell to the ground panting.
"Well brother I dont think there going to budge, said Theo." Thaddius looked at him and snorted. " I'll make them budge if its the last thing I do he said to his brother and got up again to attempt to remove one of the daggers. Suddenly to there surprise an explosion came from the inside of the tomb knocking the two brothers down on the ground and sending the coffin lid and daggers slamming into the ceiling of the Cyrpt.
The brothers after a few mintutes of gathering there nerve and senses lifted themsleves off the ground and made there way towards the Cyrpt, but then they realized the Daggers were free from the coffin and now as there chance at getting them and getting out, so they searched the Cyrpt for the daggers. Once finding them they turned back towards the tomb thinking there may be more richs in the tomb itself, when they turned around all the torches in the building went out leaving only those in there hands buring.
Uh..brother are you holding my hand? Theo said as someone or something was touching his hand. "Course not fool Im clear over here..said Thaddius who was a good three paces away from him, at that moment they both moved there torches in the same direction and nearly droped them when they saw what was standing before them holding Theo's hand. A tall slender form that looked human but was not stood before them cloaked in darkness with red eyes staring back at them. The thing howled terribly when the torches came within its view. [After all you would to if you had been locked in darkness for ages.] The being with its hands which had long nails due to its captivity over the years made swing gestures towards the brothers. Screaming the brothers made there way towards the door.
Once there they both grabed the handle at the same time fighting over who was going to open the door first till the being behind it howled again and scared them straight they both pulled with all there might swinging the door open and ran out into the woods as fast as there feet would carry them..
The two brothers conintued on for what was like forever till they were all the way to Yew Abbey. Breathing hard they both stoped and took deep breaths trying to catch there breaths. Theo once being able to speak again asked his brother what was that thing..Thaddius looked at his brother for the first time and shuddered and then said.. That my brother was a necromancer and I believe we just set him free. |

A whole two days had gone by since Thaddius and Theo had broken into the Cyrpt and stolen the daggers and nearly escaped with there lives. During this time they had stayed in hiding at night fearing something out of the shadows would jump out and get them, afraid to see those nerve shattering red eyes again. Tonight was different though they had to go out inorder to meet the buyer there broker had found for them. Little did the buyer know were the brothers had got the daggers for so they thought.
Turning the corner of the street the brothers moved slowly looking over there shoulder after every stranger that pasted by them. Finally after what seemed like hours to them the bank of Vesper came into there view. Standing in front of the bank was a man dressed in a dark brown robe and with a light brown cloak, or so they thought it was a man for his face with hidden with a long brim hat and a strange piece of leather that looked like a mempo over his mouth and close to his jaw. The man had what looked to be grey hair and the darkest skin either of the brothers had ever seen. They approached the man slowly fearing he may try something trickery..
"Have you brought the goods? said the man once the two brothers stood in front of him."
"Yes..Yes..we have. said Theo nervously." Thaddius then preceded to take open up his coat and give the stranger a look. Inside his coat were four daggers with jewel entrusted handles. The stranger eyed them like child eyed his first toy. Thaddius then took the daggers out of his straps in the vest of his coat and started to hand them to the stranger then thought better and and pulled them back towards himself.
"Payment first said Thaddius to the stranger." The stranger then looked at Thaddius for a moment staring him down to the point that Thaddius made a loud gulp. The man then laughed and reached into his robe pulling out a bag filled to its limit with jewels and coins. The brothers eyed the bag and smiled. The stranger then threw the bag at Thaddius. Thaddius not paying attention at this raised his hands fast to catch the bag and ended up droping the daggers.
The stranger seeing this reached down with his gloved hands and picked up the four daggers and with one quick motion stood back up and drove the bladed ends of the daggers into the chest of Thaddius. Theo looked at the man in shock and horror and couldnt move..the same look was now on his brothers face as his hands went limp, then his face went ghost white as the blades of the dagger began to come hot in his chest. The daggers began to melt and in doing so set Thaddius on fire..Thaddius let out the unholiest scream his brother ever heard and then his burnt and disfigured body fell to the ground and turned to dust.
The stranger looked down at the Ashes and smiled while removing his leather mempo. He then bent down and retrieved his gold and jewels. "Well I didnt expect them to do that, but then again you dont know what holy weapons will do when used in an evil manner the stranger said as he stood back up and turned his gaze towards Theo. Theo still in shock at what happened to his brother still couldnt move or run he just stood there motionless as the man approached him.
"Now what am I to do with you my dumb friend?. I could kill you but then again there may be something useful I could use you for afterall your nothing but a worthless thief. Ah yes I do have a job for you and if you do it well I may let you live." said the man to Theo. The stranger then began to laugh and his eyes began to glow red. This finally broke Theo out of his shock but sent him straight into terror as he realized now who was standing before him. He realized it was the Necromancer they had set free, being the coward he was Theo droped to his knee's and beg for his laugh.
"Please Sah..Please Sah.. I beg you dont kill me I shall do anything you wish Sah." Theo said while he groveled at the mans feet. The man looked down at him and smiled.."Good, Now I wish for you to find a certain object for me. This object is a necklace or amulet I should say..its on a gold chain in the shape of a star and in the center of the star is the brightest red ruby you've ever seen. Bring this item to me and I shall let you live and more importantly I shall not take you soul." said the man as he laughed eerily. He then kicked Theo and knocked him down. "Now begon and find that amulet before I change my mind and kill you here." said the stranger. Theo then got back up and looked down once more were his brothers remains were and then ran off into the night knowing if he didnt find what the stranger wanted he would be dead as well.
Once Theo was gone the bent down and took his gloves off and ran his fingers through the ashes then put his fingers to his mouth and licked the ashes off. "Bah! Humans never did taste very well even burnt to a crisp the stranger said as he put his gloves back on." He then turned and walked off into the night while doing so his garments changed color back into his custom black look. "I must find that amulet without it my powers are weak and I can only bring fear to those of weak minds." said the stranger to himself as he disappeared into the darkness. |

A whole week!!! Theo couldnt believe his luck, it had only taken him a week to track down the amulet. He couldnt believe the very thing he was looking for was in the City that his brother had died in, but it was. Theo thought for awhile he'd never find the amulet till he lucked out by asking a jewel expect in Vesper about the necklace. The jeweler had told him he had seen such an item around the neck of a strange fellow intown one night while at a local tavern. The man then told him for a price he would tell Theo the location of the tavern. Little did the man know he was dealing with a cutt throat. Theo's payment to the man was the promise not to take his life for the info.
Two days later Theo found himself inside the Marsh Hall. He scanned the room looking for a certain gentleman. After an hour had passed he was about to give up when a young man walked through the door. He was wearing a dark green robe and had light brown hair it seemed and his face was covered. This had to be the man Theo thought. He met the describiton given to him by the Jeweler. Theo then got up out of his seat and walked over to where the man sat down at the bar. The man ordered a bottle of Vesperian Wine and asked for a glass. Theo trying to not act out of place ordered two bottles of Ale from the bartender.
Theo then turned to the man sitting next to him and introduced himself. "Greetings stranger, me name is Theo Ironhand. What would yer's be?" said Theo. The stranger turned and looked at the man as he did so Theo could see around the mans neck a gold chain. That had to be the amulet Theo thought. The stranger looked Theo up and down carefully and smiled abit. "Greetings, sir. My name is Valin Silverleaf." said the stranger.
Theo and Valin talked nearly three hours before Valin finally got up to leave. Valin paid the bartender for his drink and for Theo's as well which was a shock to Theo, but nonetheless he had a job to do and his life depended upon it. After Valin exited the tavern Theo quickly got up and took his half empty bottle of ale with him and began the chase. He slowly followed a safe distance behind Valin.
Valin turned the corner of the building and started to head east. "I must make a stop by the bank and put this necklace up before I turn in for the night." he thought to himself as he continued to walk eastward. Little did he know that someone was following him until it was to late.
Theo watched as Valin made his way across one of the many bridges in Vesper. "I better strike now before he gets to were I think he's going." Theo thought to himself as he began to run. Valin had just made it halfway across the bridge before he finally heard the footsteps behind him. He turned and saw a man running towards him. He recongized the man from the tavern and thought perhaps the man had followed him to thank him for paying for his drinks. Theo arrived in front of Valin panting up a storm.
" Glad I caught up with ye my friend. I wish to thank you for your kindness in paying for my drinks and to repay you." said Theo.
"No need to repair me my friend, afterall I enjoyed our talk." said Valin.
"No!, I must afterall its against my custom to allow people to pay for my drinks!, said Theo.
"Very well, then let us head to the bank and I shall take your repayment there." said Valin. He then turned to make his way to the bank. He took one step and then another then all of a sudden a sharp pain came from the back of his head and everything turned to darkness and he felt like he was falling.
"Blast! I knew I shouldnt have hit him while he was close to the railing, said Theo has he fished Valin out of the Canal under the bride. He then leaned down and check the man's breathing."Ah! Good he's not dead, wouldnt want a murder charge over me head." said Theo as he leaned over and unclasp the necklace around Valins neck and pulled it free. He then held the amulet up high. Looking closly at the ruby star. He then put the necklace in the plam of his hand and went to put it in his pocket when all the sudden a jolt of enegry knocked him on his feet.
" Holy Cow Fodder!!!" said Theo as he got up off the ground. He then looked at the necklace again and for the first time could feel the powers traped within the necklace. He then realized the reason the necromancer wanted the item and became worried. "He's for sure to kill me if he gets his hands on this." said Theo as he put the amulet in his pocket finally. He then turned and ran east fast has he could wishing to get out of town before Valin woke, all the while thinking what he was going to do next with the item.
Two hours later Valin finally woke. First thing he noticed was the pain in his head and the fact he was wet. Second thing he noticed was the amulet was gone. He then got up and groaned. How could he have been so stupid to trust a man he didnt even know he thought to himself. He then began walk eastward towards the bank. Now how am I goign to find this lout that took the necklace. I guess its time to ask for help in this matter. I would hate for the item to fall in the wrong hands. I guess my first place to ask for help would be the Regency, the thought to himself as he walked into the night. |
