Calm…. quiet…. uneventful… these words now described the days of Norrec Demise. The new Regent had impressed him, sure nothing fit his dream, but to say that Nazralte was approachable to the people was to say the least. Norrec shrugged to himself as he walked through Minoc, hands folded behind his back. The discontent and anger him and his fellow men had felt dissipated through time, and perhaps from lack of action. Hardly mattered Norrec thought to himself, his life required action, he thought upon Locke, his associate from his assassin days, wondered what he was doing these days. Maybe the two of them could strike out and begin work again. He smiled remembering the one time they worked together against the blabbering fool Chad.

Yes Norrec thought to himself, perhaps he had just been fooling himself these past months, he wasn’t a leader or a visionary, he was a killer. He smiled oddly to himself, and he enjoyed the game of the hunt. Yes its about time to get back in contact with Locke, he had heard the others had “faded out”, Dymm had mentioned retiring before, and guessed Phyrra went with him. He was still young, still able, and had the joy of the hunt. It was time to get active again. Of course such refined folk such as him and Locke couldn’t go around just killing anyone, perhaps he would observe peoples conflicts and offer himself, yes choice clients. Norrec nodded to himself as he wrote a letter and discreetly handed it to someone most would have just thought a bum on the street, one rogue recognized another. It would reach Locke in time.

Locke,

I hope this letter finds you in good health; I have a proposition for you. Why not the two of us strike out in business together? With Dymm retired, and no sign of others, we could easily corner the market with our skills, what do you think?

In the corner of some random pub, sits a man boringly looking over copies of news announcements and reports. Another man walked up to him, a man that anyone else would take for some random bum. The table was in the shadows, and if the man sitting didn't have some manner of darkvision from a little bit of drowish blood, he wouldn't be able to read it at all.

"This seat taken?" the bum asked.

Without a look came the reply, of course in rogues code. "'tis not, but you should be careful, would be easy for someone to sneak up on you, sitting with your back to the crowd like that."

The bum smirked and sat. Carefully forming the code phrases in his mind, he spoke. "Know anyone with a pidgeon, so I can send this letter? Seems someone dropped it, and I don't know who to send it to."

The other man, rarely recieving mail, dropped the code accidentally. "Who the hell would write to me?" He reached across and snatched the letter the bum held out.

The bum chuckled, enjoying Locke's disregard for secrecy, which for most, would have gotten him killed by now. He said his goodbye, muttering a code phrase telling locke about an underground black market coming up soon, and left with a glance around.

Locke opened and read the letter. After memorising it, he stuck the point of a fireball enchanted dagger into the paper a few times, sparking the magic that burned the note instantly. No traces, of course.

He replied in the rogue code. Norrec should have no problem with it.

Dearest cousin,

I hope my letter finds you quickly, as bagball has been cancelled. Little work for me without the game, eh?

Anyways, we'll have to play a game of cards some time, I've got a few jokers up my sleeve.

See you soon, dearest cousin.

Norrec received the letter and wrote in return.

Cousin,

Yes I am well, and sad of the canceling of bag ball. Cards does sound good, I have a few new games we could try, do you know any others who would like to play? We should get together at gramps old place soon.
