*written in a strong, slanting hand on well-made parchment and puslished in the city of Vesper*

Dear Lady Lia:

Having never received any revisions or formal reply to our proposed treaty some months ago, I can only conclude that you are uncomitted to supporting your frequent verbal statements to me in favor of this same treaty. I feel that you have negotiated with us in bad faith, and so do hereby recind my offer of alliance. Perhaps it is just as well; my advisors and I harbor grave reservations about the wisdom of allying with a guild so closely tied to the Dark Order and a history of supporting the Hand of Humanis.

The Knights of Sosaria intend to pursue our own affairs in the city of Vesper and do not recognize any authority of yours over our actions. We have offered you our hand in friendship to build a greater city for the betterment of all its inhabitants. Yet, this offer of goodwill and community has been at first accepted, then insulted, ignored and even met with threats of reprisal by your demon-posessed ally, Tarothin. A true pity, and I question your vision for the city and your legitimacy to claim it. I have yet to hear a single argument in favor of joining this Union of Regulators you and Tarothin so espouse that does not eventually lead to the threat that all those who do not join you shall be declared enemies and subjugated.

None the less, I wish you well and harbor no ill intent toward you and yours. Yet I remind you, both my own order of Knights and our allies the Adventurer's League of Vesper will not take it kindly should you think to send your allies in the Dark Order to threaten us or our homes in this city again.

*Having read Lady Arcana's expected publication Smiticles, a founder of the Adventurer's League of Vesper, rushes home to his study to prepare himself mentally and physically for the inevitable. He can only contemplate the unfortunate circumstances and unpleasantries which may be visited upon Vesper as a result of the Guardian's inaction and their alliance with darkness.*

Heading towards the Vesper bank Max could not miss the small group of people gathered around the notice tacked to the wall. Even from a small distance the crest of the Knights of Sosaria made it quite obvious that this was the expected announcement that would likely change the very nature of the world for the Adventurer's League of Vesper.

"Will we be ready for whatever this may bring?" Max thought to himself as he observed the looks of surprise on the people's faces as they read the notice. "Will Vesper be ready?"

The short trip back to the ALV Guildhouse may as well have been days long for all the thoughts running through Max's head. He thought back to his meeting with Lady Lia of the Guardians, and thier mutual hope that Vesper would prosper and remain a safe place for it's citizens.

He considered also the current state of the ALV and it's ability to rise up to the challenges that will surely be coming.

"Bah!" he snarled as he passed RiverRun, "Things will work out just fine. Lady Arcana is right in that Vesper needs some sort of an active government, and the Guardians have not been providing that. The ALV may be small, but we're not alone in this. Things will work out just fine."

Thoughts still swirling in his head as he, almost automatically, fed Sherman his dinner of raw ribs and prepared for bed, Max settled into bed and drifted slowly towards a fitful sleep. The final conscious thought he had as his wearyness won the day was of Lady Lia and how she would feel about these acts against her.

Lady Arcana,
Untill Lady Lia can recover well enough to resume her dutys, i'd suggest you find a comfortable chair to sit in near a fireplace an wait till she is able to return like i am currently doing.
If thats not good enough then i can only suggest you take a long walk off a short pier to cool off. The one by the mage shop in Vesper is rather peaceful, if you bother to take the time to look. Teflon
*summons a pigeon an asks it to deliver it to the lady*

Teflon,

Met with Keris yet? No? Then save your parchment.
